can I put those in a crock pot with some other things a make a meal? What would I put in it? I'm limited, I have rice or potatoes and not much else in my house right now so a receipe with the least amount of ingredients would work best for me. If you dont think it would be good just let me know. Thanks.

You can make a great soup with just what you have,,,put the rutabaga and the beans along with a half cup rice and a whole chopped potato....salt and pepper and fill to just about six inches above the food...cook on high for two hours or low for six hours....would be great if you had some form of tomato to use....canned tomato,,,sauce,,,paste...or even just a half cup of ketchup.....and it is crying out for onion but just with what you have added it should be good.

Rutabaga and butter beans would make a great soup! I'd probably cook some diced onions, celery, carrot (if you have those) in some olive oil or butter until they are soft. Add some broth and any other leftovers you might have in the fridge. Is the rutabaga cooked? If not, add it when you do the broth and let it cook a bit before adding the other stuff. The beans can be added closer to the end of the cooking time since they are precooked and you don't want them to be too mushy. I like making soup with whatever I can find in my pantry. Frozen veggies and frozen spinach are good to add too!

Yes combine them in a pot with some cut up potatoes throw in a little salt, pepper, and some garlic salt, and a couple of cups of water boil until done and it should make a good meal.

I wouldn't put them in a crock pot,
the rhutabaga should be cooked in salted and sugared water, cut in small pieces.(takes 10-15 min)
the beans do not have to cook too long or they will get mushy.(3-5 min)
I would do them separate, and then cook a little rice on the side.
make your meat separate and you have a nice dinner with lots of veggies....

mix the rutabaga with the mashed potatoes, and make the butter beans like baked beans; ketchup, fried onion, mustard and brown sugar. Needs a salad or something.
