There are many theories on this. One is different climate determined our structure and skin color and another is that there were actually several different Adam and Eves in different parts of the world.

Physically all people have different amounts and kinds of melanin in their skin which produces shades of skin color. We do not have any verification as to what color of skin Adam and Eve had. It has been shown that with just one male and female containing the right combinations of genes and melanin, you can get the various skin shades we have in the world. Time magazine had a main feature related to this a long time ago where the front cover of an issue had a woman called "Eve" and the supporting main article told how by tracing the mitocondria (I think i have the right word) from females you could trace the origens of the human race to come from the middle east (near Iraq and Iran) which also is geographically close to the Garden of Eve as described in the Bible. the other main factor for various groups of people is that they split up into various tribes and clans after the tower of Bable and interpopulated among their groups which also contibuted to major physical features among them including skin color. Dark skin is more suited to shield one from the hot sun and so we find historically that the hot tropic areas around the world often contain darker skinned peoples rather than white. Africa and parts of the world near the equator where it tends to be more warmer in climate often contain native groups of peoples who are more darker skinned than white for that reason although there are some exceptions.

No where in the Bible does it say, Adam and eve were white. They are portrayed that way because when Christianity was more mainstream, Europeans were the ones who interpreted the Bible and drew images of the Characters in the Bible. If Blacks weren't treated like scum and they were held at a high status many years ago, Adam and Eve would have been portrayed accordingly.

It is shown that adam and eve are both white ACCORDING to paintings of various time periods. This is simply because (generally) the artists were of a white skin color. One must take into account the geographical regions etc. Also, the variety of skin tones can be accounted for by the fact that all things move toward entropy. Until evil entered the human body (the fall of man) man possessed the 'perfect' body (being created in the image of God). After the fall of man, one can see a consistent decline in length of life. Also a large spike in illnesses. entropy.
This does not mean that all that do not have the perfect melena of Adam and Eve are 'sick' in any way. It is simply of dividing of genes which causes a difference in production of a specific skin color.

Where in the bible does it say that Adam and Eve were white. More than likely they were of medium brown skin with the capabilty of producing children with darker or lighter complexions. It is just the amount of Melanin that is produced that determines color. You do realize that when some white people are exposed to the sun they become darker. I have a cousin that was mistaken for an exchange student from South America one time because of how dark his skin is.

There are a lot of people that believe that Adam & Eve had three children that spawned the different races of the world. One child was described as "light in complection," while another was "dark skinned," if I remember right the third was more in between.

Now I do not have my Bible handy, but I believe that this is the case. If nobody else confirms this I will research it and get back to you with more.

As for adam and eve, because of the climate of where they lived, they were probably more brown than anything.

To add to my previous statement,,,,,,,,

First off the Bible is in no way fiction. It has been tried and tested and has stood for thousands of years. As for contradictions......name one. I am not trying to be a jerk, but I am not to fond of blanked statments like, "The Bible is full of Contradictions," unless you can show me some of them.

Also someone mentioned Adam's and Eve's names mean "from soil" or "earth".........That would be because in Genisis the Bible states that God formed Adam "From the Dust of the Earth."

No where does it mention the race of Adam and Eve. But we know that race does exist. The reason for that is that genes over time take on certain characteristics. Such as a group of moths may turn from being all white to all black over a large amount of time.

i'm not a religious person and i've never read the bible but from the way i see it the bible was written by lots of different people hence all the contradictions. also having been retranslated it would have lost some of its meaning. i would not have thought the oldest forms of the bible would have been illustrated therefore when they were illustrated maybe for european use . the illustrators being white skinned people may have thought in their devine narrow minded wisdom that all devine or biblical characters must be white skinned because slavery must have been about then. just out of curiosity have you checked to see if the wording in the bible mensions black skin or white skin in its text. p.s. just to let you know i am white.

FYI: the illustrations in the Bible reflect the culture it is printed in. In Africa Jesus, Mary, etc., are all portrayed as black. Also, the word "Adam" is Hebrew for "mankind" - thus "Adam" was not a single individual.

If you do a little more reading you will find out that white people are a result of a mutation in the genetic code - all of our distant ancestors had very dark skin.

Adam and Eve are not the only lineage that God created
they are only mentioned like that because
that is the lineage of the Christ :)

Adam and Eve were Hebrew,
the same people that the blacks made into slaves, so what ?
