Please help!, My kitten is like 7 weeks old. I just got him about a week ago and put him on moist kitten food. However his stomach seems to make this really profound noise similar to the sound of a helicopter, not as loud of course. When I hold him I can feel his stomach vibrating when this noise occurs. He doesn't seem too bothered about it, he's just aware its happening and tries to get comfortable hoping it would stop.

Is this something I should be worried about?

I haven't taken him to the vet yet as I just got him last week, he also seems to itch quite often but not excessively.

Please help, do you think something might be wrong with him?

Thanks in advance

Im assuming that you know what purring is, and you are not describing that. It could be his stomach digesting his food. the moist kitten food may be a little rich for his delicate tummy. Any change in brand or type (wet/dry) can really affect some cats. do you know what kind of food he was eating before you brought him home? you might try blending that with the food you feed him right now.

I swear I'm not being sarcastic, but are you sure he is not just purring? My one kitty makes so much noise and she vibrates everywhere when she is really content, and I could see how someone without much experience with pets might mistake this as a problem. He could just be really happy.

What you may want to check for is, is he going to the bathroom regularly and does it look normal, ie. is poop solid, not runny, is urine, proper color, etc. If either of these is not normal, or you are positive it is not just because he is happy, I would see a vet as it could be some internal problem that may require medication.

I think he's learning to purr and he's snuggling. But go ahead and take him to the vet now. There are first shots and worm checks that need to be done at a very young age (do you know whether his previous owners did any of that?) Maybe he has fleas, if so most treatments are dangerous for kittens & you need the vet's advice.

Your kitten is purring because he's happy . Be sure you offer dry kitten food too because it keeps their teeth healthy and it's lower in fat content.

Well, there are one of two things that come to mind. He could be purring or it could be the kind of cat food you have him on. Maybe try milk or something better.

Are you joking? My first thought is purring too.

That would be purring, and it means he is pleased.
