What are the consequences of threatening another persons pet?

Question

Basically they have a dog that wont shutup and I told them that if they dont make it shutup that I was going to cook it for my Thanksgiving dinner.

They called the cops.

Oh....I had already reported them 3 times. This is documented.
2 times with the office and once with a courtesy officer.

I think basically you could get in trouble for harrassing them, but on the other hand, you could get them on disturbing the peace or noise violations.

This depends on the state law. I live in Nevada and the laws on animal abuse are not very stern (sadly) But threatening someones dog usually isn’t a big crime, frankly I don’t think much will be done, if your neighbors make a huge deal about this, the police might come and give you a verbal warning. But I had a problem with a barking dog before, and I would put Nyquil tablets (not the gel ones) in a hot dog and throw it over the fence. I tried half the tables first and they kind worked but I moved up to whole tablet… The dog slept through out the whole night… It was great. I think eventually they found out what we were doing but couldn’t prove it so they started taking there dog in at night… solved my problem. (and you can actually buy animal sedatives if you feel bad about the Nyquil)

That could be called a terrorist threat in that you made it to terrorize them into doing what you want. That having been said, they MIGHT be able to get a restraining order depending on your jurisdiction and you better hope to goodness that nothing accidentally befalls that dog.

EVERYTHING is life has a consquence and while I feel for you, this one may bite you in the butt.
