I strongly agree with Ryansmom.
Cocaine is a dangerous, addictive and illegal drug. The term "speed" is a general term which could refer to a number of drugs. But if you are obtaining it from anywhere other than a prescription from a doctor, it is just as dangerous as cocaine.
It is true that ADHD is sometimes treated with stimulants such as Ritalin. However, the dosing and possible side effects must be carefully monitered by a doctor. In the wrong hands, it can be just as dangerous as illegal stimulants (speed.) Not to mention the fact that ADHD is a very difficult condition to diagnose. Again, a good doctor who is familiar with ADHD is required.
As far as cocaine is concerned, the many negative effects, from addiction to death, far outweigh any positive effects that MIGHT result.
A person in my family has been diagnosed and treated for ADHD. PART of his treatment included Ritalin and other stimulants, and the outcome has been very good.
Please forget the "recreational" drugs and see a doctor.

Actually stimulants have the opposite affect on children with ADD/ADHD. That is why prescription Amphetamines are normally prescribed for ADHD. Speed and Cocaine would still cause the same problems, as far as heart damage, and it is still illegal.

Same thing anyone with drugs does. They get hyper. High. Up there. They pay less attention.
Of course, it may depend on ingestion. I've heard that people who smoke speed get to the point where they can REALLY concentrate well, people who eat it stay up all night, and people who snort it stop eating but otherwise are pretty normal. I've only ever done drugs in the form of a prescription, so I wouldn't know. That's just what i'm thinking would happen.

Actually, it would likely have the opposing effect. It may bring a child down to a "norm" functioning, perhaps more productive, etc. This depends on several factors.

The ADD & ADDHD meds are speed. The misconception with these kids are that their minds are really behind,so they act out.The meds(speed) catches them up to speed, so to speek.

He will, sooner or later, become addicted and have many, many more problems than just ADD. Don't use! Believe me, although you probably won't.
