I had just gotten on the freeway..

i was going 75, on Cruise Control, as always..

On the oppisite side of the freeway i see a cop with his search lights out scanning the side of the road.

a mile or two down the road i see anohter cop, in my lane of traffic, and going really really slow. like 45 maybe.

At first i got startled cause i came up on him so fast.. so i pumped my brakes to slow down, changed lanes, passed him.. and started to speed up again.

And the cop flipped on his lights and pulled me over.

He said i was going 89. Which is crap to begin with, cause i doubt my truck could go that fast, AND, i was on Cruise control.

So i got a ticket.. but that is BS>

He was riding the shoulder, i followed all traffic laws, and i get some tickets for it.

is there anythign i can do. can i call BS and get out of it some how?

If the speed limit in your area is 75 and you had your speed control set to 75 then it would be difficult to think you were speeding unless....

1) you were going down a hill where the speed control does not automatically apply brakes.

2) your speedometer is uncalibrated. It's not difficult for a speedometer to eventually wear out over miles and years. I'd suggest you take your car to a reputable dealership and have it's accuracy checked.

3) you could have accidently applied some accelleration even with the speed control activated.

I was not in the car with you but there are reasons people accidentally speed. Just because a speed control is activated does not mean the car can't go faster!!

Take the results of your speedometer check to court if there is a serious inaccuracy and inform the court of the incorrect reading. One can't imagine going TOO fast over the limit even if the speedometer is somewhat out of calibration. However, imagine the number of excuses officers hear in a day about how they couldn't speed just because their speed control was on.

It's not up to an officer to hear your case but only to report the violation. It's up to the court to determine if the officer has met his burden of proof against you!

Best wishes.

Check out info. on the internet. There are published ways to beat a ticket (not all will be successful, but will give you a better chance).

Your brake lights are a red flag "guilty signal" of going too fast. Don't pump the brakes next time, just shut off the cruise control and let the vehicle coast. If you have a truck, it should slow down quickly enough to get you to the posted speed limit.

Don't pay it. Go to court for the ticket, get a hearing. Before you see the judge the cop will likely meet with you and offer to drop to a lesser charge. This is the part when you gotta make a decision to accept the less charge like"impeding traffic 0pts"
Or if he won't budge to a satisfaction to you say you are pleading not guilty, tell the judge you are not guilty and next time you will be in court with your lawyer. and hire a lawyer. Ask the police car tape of the event. Force the cop to be in a position where he must testi-lie, to his story.

Face it you were speeding. Be a man and take the ticket. I hate people like you who drive so fast on your bumper and think its ok. What if there was a accident up ahead and he was trying to slow down the traffic? By the way why were you speeding in the slow lane?

Everyone who gets stopped by the cops are always innocent. It's allways the same "innocent" people who ask these questions.

you can fight it in court but if his radar thing has the report and it says 89 you are pretty much screwed, but I would ask them to pull that to show proof of said speed in court, good luck, its hard when its our word against theres!!

Go to court at the time they have set for you. If the cop doesn't show up, you are home free.
