I have to do a pastel reproduction of a great work of art for my art class. Any suggestions-specific artists or works of art? Thanks in advance.

Pick a subject that you will feel comfortable working with. I like abstracts so I would do something by an abstract artist.

Try doing Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Night" I did it and it turned out great.
