When will it be okay to pet or pick them up? My niece is bad about leaving them alone. I applied the medicine last night around 8 or 9 pm.

Okay, listen. Only Hartz will work on my pets. I've tried frontline and it doesn't do anything. You're not answering my point. When can I pick them up? I'm not asking for a lecture of what to use on my pets. I have them locked up in my laundry room and I just want to know when I can let them out.

I have found that the over the counter meds from Hartz and a few others just don't work any more......it may be that the orginal formula has not been changed and the fleas are resistant to it now.......I would reccommend that you visit your vet, petsmart,petco......and pick up Frontline, Advantage or Revolution to use on your pet. They all will kill fleas for a month and are safer than anything from Hartz.

In the mean time, I would think it safe to pick up the cat when whatever you put on is dry.

Well if you know only Hartz will work on your pets, how come you don't know when it's OK to touch them again? How come you called it Heart initially? How many times have you used this stuff exactly?

Read the instructions, it should tell you! Usually you only have to wait for spot-ons to dry before it's safe to touch the animal again, but I can't vouch for Hartz because it's HORRIBLE stuff. Good luck to you if you're cats are lucky enough not to get reactions from this stuff, but many cats are not so lucky. If I were you I wouldn't be supporting these bastards by trying this stuff. I'll eat my hat if you actually gets fleas out of your house using this stuff.

I would wait until it dries. I put some of that on my cat because I was waiting to get the frontline in the mail and he had a horrible reaction, it was burning his skin. I had to scrub it off him and he was super sensitive for a few days. That stuff is cheap and doesn't work very well. Spend the extra money and get frontline. It will work better and stops the fleas from reproducing so it will get them out of your house since they are probably already in your carpet. Seriously, frontline plus. Look into it.

Be very careful about using Hartz or the drugstore brands of that stuff. Your pet can suffer a sudden allergic reaction and die from it. The only safe products to use are at your vet.
