I adopted my puppy last week from a shelter and they said he was a chihuhua mix. I was looking at pictures, and I sort of think he looks like a "Chipin" which is a chihuhua and min pin. Can someone tell me what they think and if they think he will get very big? Thanks so much!

Very pretty pup! She does look like she has a smaller frame and I'm guessing she'll stay small (though obviously grow a little bigger).

I have a Min Pin mix and esp. as a pup, she was VERY high energy. She would jump almost straight up like she was on springs. I was told this is a Min Pin characteristic.

Good luck with the new addition!

If the pup is fine boned and small and the length of the back is relatively short in comparison to the limbs then it likely has some Mini-pin in it. The colouring can be any of the breeds mentioned already.

Another possibility is Rat Terrier with floppy ears.

Chi x Mini Pin certainly consistant, although you'd expect the ears to be standing up as with Rat Terrier.

To tell you the truth, I don't even see the chihuhua in this dog at all. I just see MinPin. I used to have one and she was mistaken for a Chihuhua all the time.

But, it is still perfetly possible that this is a chichuhua/minpin mix and that the minpin characteristics are just showing up more.

I doubt this dog will get very big. Maybe 12 pounds at the most. My minpin was the runt of her litter and she weighed in at 4-5 pounds but was unusually small for a minpin.

Cute dog and contrats on adopting!!!

He is adorable I don't see much chihuhua I would agree with you on the chipin, and I don't think he will be big at all

looks like a doberman or manchester terrier or a min pin mix. its very difficult to determin the out come of a mixed breed/mutt. if he has got some chilhuaha in him and a bigger dog he could be anywhere between them two breeds.

Looks strongly minpin - maybe a little chi or terrier. We have a rescue that looks just like him and he is a 7 lb./1 yr. old sweetheart - the home that adopts him will adore whatever this mix is (he does not have the nervousness of a chi or the bark of a terrier). Bless you for adopting a shelter animal. Your baby is adorable and i know you're gonna love him...Good Luck!

your right he does look Chihuahua and Minature Pincher or maybe Manchester Terrier. If a shelter says Mix they dont know the other breed of parent. They only know one of them. Hes very cute good luck.

....or possibly part Manchester Terrier. Adorable!!!! I bet more people would be adopting if they knew that fabulous puppies like these are waiting for them at shelters.
p.s. join Start Puppy Training, it's a great list to be on - all positive, and a lot of great trainers post on there.
