Yeah, the images of Heaven are kind of lame. I mean, some of the images of Hell seem like it would be a much better place to be. Unfortunately, neither place exists.

Note: Dead people don't go anywhere when they die, they must be resurrected back to life first. Hell is the graves though and it will be burned by fire from heaven in the future.

Technically you go to a place in heaven called "the New Jerusalem" which descends to Earth 1000 years later. It's a PHYSICAL PLACE in the universe unlike what most chritian probbably think because they don't read their bibles.

Basically, it'll be like star strek because you will learn more about the universe.

Also note that you don't earn Eternal life, Jesus paid it for you and all you have to do is believe (he wont force you to live forever, that's where hell annihilation comes is, that is ceasing to exist).

In heaven you can
1. Build your own home and plant your own garden (Isaiah 65:21, 22)
2. Have a city mansion built by Christ (John 14:1-3.)
3. Sing and play heavenly music (Isaiah 35:10; 51:11; Psalm 87:7; Revelation 14:2, 3).
4. Worship before God's throne every Sabbath (Isaiah 66:22, 23).
5. Enjoy never-fading flowers and trees (Ezekiel 47:12; Isaiah 35:1, 2).
6. Meeting loved ones, patriarchs, prophets, angels etc. (Matthew 8:11; Revelation 7:9-17).
7. Study the animals of heaven (Isaiah 11:6-9; 65:25).
8. Fly and explore wonders of the universe without getting tired (Isaiah 40:31).
9. Listen to God sing (Zephaniah 3:17).
10. Realize fondest ambitions (Psalm 37:3, 4; Isaiah 65:24).
11. Being with Jesus (Revelation 14:4; 22:4; 21:3; 1 John 3:2).

Thats a pretty good question! Ive never really thought about that. Ive been raised a christian but now am pretty much religion-less now, but I was kida brought up thinking that it was good to go to heaven and you should do anything you could to go there, but not really any ideas about what you actually do when you get there. Its kinda like looking at a holiday destination without really looking into what there is to do there I guess.

Im looking forward to reading what others thing about this too. Nice one.

It deosnt really appeal to me, the thought about being stood around forever going "OOOOOooh! Look at him!" to God all the time. Sure it would be nice but if theres so many people basking in His (dont forget the capital) glory would it just be a bit like being at a concert when you cant really see the stage? Besides it would get a bit boring after about 20 minutes, well unless he did some standup or somthing.

Ive jusr read Silly's quotes, sounds quite outdoorsy and nature oriented, sounds pretty sweet actually. I could do with a rest in my Jesus built house with a nice garden.

According to the Holy Scriptures, the reason the believer enters heaven is to escape the wrath to come upon this earth. After this world is destroyed, the bible says that God will create a new heaven and a new earth. The earth was created for man to dwell in. I do not think that man was ever intended to dwell in heaven but to have dominion over the earth and to dwell there.

Heaven will be the eternal place of worshiping the one true God. We will forever be in His presence without separation, and enjoy and bask in the holiness of the perfect divine Being. The accomplishment will be to worship the only Being who is worth that, for all eternity.

I personally can't wait.

What is the purpose of going to heaven? For those of us who know for a fact that we are, the purpose is the worship Jesus face to face, like we are worshiping Him now, because He is worthy of that- He died to give us entrance into His presence forever. To accomplish what?- There will be no more pain, or sorrow or pain or death- that is awesome to me, especially since I live in chronic pain every day of my life from a disease. You are probably thinking why would I worship and serve a God that allows my pain? Because His grace is sufficient, and my short time I am on the earth, dims when I think about eternity without pain, and sin. Those who go to hell, will continually be in pain and torment.

What heaven actually is is up for debate. But its purpose is to be with God more fully. We can experience His presence here on earth but not as fully as when heaven occurs. Of course, if you don't believe in heaven or God at all, then this is an exercise in futility...

It's man's idea that all we do is float around.I believe God has a job for everyone in heaven. Not
like a grudging job like here on earth. We will be happy there with peace and joy.Living here on earth is not always pleasent and as a christian can be very trying. So it is our reward .

It's the ultimate pat on the head and "Good Puppy"--people want to go to heaven just to prove they weren't the miserable dirtbags they already know themselves to be

Heaven will be where faith becomes sight. All that I have believed and practiced as a Catholic will finally pay off. Christians will finally be with our Maker and Master. We will have all of our tears wiped away, no more suffering, no more pain and no more sin. We will be one with Christ.
