Most people actually practise no religion in the UK. Shouldn't they take a secular approach?
Even my Lonely Planet travel guide refers to "The Prophet Mohammed". What's going on ??

Scared of being accused of being a blasphemer. You get stoned to death in Pakistan for that, probably in a few other islamic countries as well.

There's no reference at all in the Bible regarding Mohamed. Muslims will try desperately to find the smallest "clue" in order to link Mohamed with the Old and New Testament. Do Islam really need us to give it the right of existence? Please, Islam is a very different religion and in many ways disconnected with the Judeo-Christian values/principles. I know that Muslims are NOT terrorists and that the big majority (like you and me) just want to live normal peacefull lives (like you and me). But there are some serious irreconcilable differences. If people find peace within Islam and are happy with it, please, be my guest, but do not try to forcefully relate Mohamed with Jewishdom or Christianity. Respect these two religions in order to gain respect and don't twist them in the Koran. Remark: why look into the Bible for some clues, a book which Muslims themselves call "corrupted"? That's contradictory!

Looks like the Political Correctness Apparatchiks (those who are working to create a Fascist Theocratic Police State in England, as it almost exists in the USA) have done a good job with their propaganda effort. There should be no governmental endorcement of any religion whatsoever, whether Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Christianity or any other. To refer to Muhammed as the Prophet is to endorce a faith, but then so is referring to St. Peter. He's no "Saint" in my book. So likewise is the government recognizing religious holidays. If people want to take time off for Xmas or Hanukkah, or the birthday of Guru Nanak or Krishna, that's their problem. But neither the folk in the UK nor the dillholes in the USA appreciate the Jeffersonian doctrine of a complete and hermetic seperation of Church and State.

Try to publish anything taken as a possible insult to Muhammed from a cartoon to printed texts like the Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie, a UK citizen, and the terrorists threaten this and that, and we like gutless cowards capitulate.
The next time Muslim extremists threaten to murder innocent civilians and children for some cartoon that possibly insults Muhammed, all the World should stand for free speech and publish in every newspaper, book and show on TV the most insulting cartoons, sitcoms and written jokes about Muhammed, and Muhammed's mother imaginable!

I, for one, do not bend the knee to terrorists, or become threatened by anyone, anytime, any where. To shut me up, you're going to have to kill me, and good luck to you if you try, you'll need it. You may be good, I'm the best!

In keeping with this tradition, here's a joke for you:

What's the difference between Muhammed and a pile of dog doo?

Answer: Not much at all except the dog doo smells better.

Come and get me, you terrorists! Ha Ha Ha, I'm laughing at you. You cannot terrorize me. My will is adamantine, I bend the knee to no man, no prophet, and no god either. I serve nobody and never will. Dum spiro spero!

If the news in the UK is secular, why is Mohammed in the news anyway? The guy died 1300 years ago.

Well you wouldn't want to upset anybody now would you!!!

He is not and never will be my prophet, just as Jesus will never be the son of God to me!!

I believe that both Jesus & Mohammed existed but not in the form that popular religions would have us believe, I believe they were spiritual leaders, and symbolized hope and unity.

This is called showing respect.

Whether showing a secular approach, reporting news, or writing in a travel guide, it never hurts to show respect for people and their religions, cultures, and traditions.

With love in Christ.

Well, because the news items are specifically referring to the Mohammad who was the Profit of the Muslims.

Calling spade a spade doesn’t make you a believer, anyways!

Pehaps because the name Mohammed or variations of the name have become commonplace and the press wants to make it clear exactly to which Mohammed they are referring.

They are just trying to respect their beliefs. For them that is what he is, until proved or understood otherwise.

As for me, I love the Arab architecture, and their many contributions to science, and find very decent the way they present themselves, unfortunately it seems that the fact that Mohammed was in a turmoil of wars and religion allowed for secularism to infiltrate his predicament. Leaving behind the message of love given in Jesus. It seems more like a nationalistic move of the prophecies in competition against the concept of the Jewish as chosen people. They should both come to understand the will of God for universal peace in acceptance of Jesus and in becoming as peaceful as him.

Oh, did you not realise? The UK is now a Muslim country!

That's why Imams are allowed to get away with preaching hatred in many London mosques, and are not prosecuted.
