I'm in good shape for the most part, but i do have a bit of chub that I want to try to get rid of and turn into muscle. I'm planning on busting out the treadmill and running everyday for about 30 minutes. Also, I'm trying to stop drinking pop and other bad things....I do sit ups every day and i have strong muscles in my abs, theres just still a little bit of fat over them. How long and how much can i lose this way?

Do not restrict your calories to 1600 a day!! Just make healthier choices. You may need to cut calories, but it is all dependent on you. If you are 6' tall male, 1600 calories a day is starvation.

Just do mroe cardio to burn the fat, toning exercises to strengthen and tone the muscle and keep at it. It takes time, especially those last few pounds. Don't be concerned with pounds, since you may add some while you build muscle. Just watch your shape change as you work hard.

But as far as running every day- you may actually overdo it, especially if your body isn't used to it. Try alternating cardio (running or whatever) one day, then strength training the next. take a day or two off every week. Also, start slow and build up. Pushing past your limits only increases risks of injury and can do more harm than good.

Weight loss is really quite simple; there are only two things you need do to reach your goals:

1. Restrict daily calories to 1600 calories per day. By increasing the amount of fruits and vegetables you eat, you will be able to keep your intake at this level without feeling hungry or uncomfortable.

2. Exercise for one hour a day, every single day. It can be anything from pilates to just plain walking, but do it. One hour. Every day.

This is a pretty simple recipe for weight loss, but it works. It has worked for me; I have lost 62 pounds this way. I even lost weight over Thanksgiving. It will work for you if you commit to it and stick to it.
