I want to get a nice tripod for my camera (Nikon D-50, likely will have my SB-600 attached).

I got the $20 walmart model years ago, and it's falling apart after what I say is minimal use. I want to upgrade to a nicer model, but I'm tripod-stupid and don't know what to look for.

Can you recommend a good model, or tell me what I should look for?

Take a look at most brands and their models including the specs at www.bhphotovideo.com

B&H Photo Tripod Specials, Silk #SLP340DXS max 58" $99.95, Silk # SLU9000 max 59" $44.95 (w/free case), Impact #IM820 max 60 3/4" $49.95 free S&H + case. There are 3 pages of specials including Sunpack models ranging from $35+. I hope this information is helpful and as a heads-up, I have been a B&H customer for more then 25 years.

Bogen/Manfrotto. Velbon. Slik. Gitzo. Induro. Giottos.

Make sure its tall enough for you.

Choose either a high quality ballhead or a standard tilt-pan head.
