"you guys" is the most common form for "y'all" in the North and West (even when the audience includes females). This is shortened in some Northeastern dialects to "youse guys" and "youse". (And, by the way, "y'all" is SECOND person plural, not third.)

For the self-proclaimed grammarians here, every single dialect of American English has a second person plural form--"you all", "y'all", "you guys", "youse". It's entirely common and useful in normal speech.

I happen to be a Texan breed, born and raised, and every region has its little take on certain words think Jersey or New York and the rest of the nasally Easterners are no better and neither are the North with their monotone garble or the West coaster. Just smile and speak at least you are still understandable a lot of other accents are not.

Get around some New Yorkers and you'll hear "youse or youse guys" quite frequently. Every area of the country has their own language idiosyncracies. Try asking for a milk shake in Boston, sometime. Describe the making to them and you'll be told that is a "Frappe". lol

I'm from the northeastern US, and I say "y'all" sometimes. Some people laugh, some people don't. It just makes sense in some situations. However, I do say "you all" too. "You guys" sounds fine, except for the fact that it refers to men only. I take offense when "you guys" is used to adress a group of which I am a part.

Good question! "Ya'll" is the third person plural. It just happens to be missing in English. In Spanish it is Uds. Anyway, its very useful when refferring to a group of people.
As far as I know everyone other than southerners say "you guys"

YOU GUYS, YOU'ZE, YOU ALL and other colloquial idioms.

Remember that 'Ya'll' is not exclusive to TEXAS, but includes most of the southern tier states.

By the way - TEXAS is not a STATE.

It is appropriate to remind people that it is -
"THE MAGNIFICENT EMPIRE OF TEXAS"

Dude, the majority of "the east" says y'all too... it's just the northeast.

There are slight variations to it.

Ya'll is like spelling alot, where it should be spelled a lot-- Mildy retarded. Texans should get over the archaic speach and understand that corporate America excepts CORRECT PRONUNCIATION AND USAGE.
