I think that it is better to be friends first because then you get to know them and you begin to develop a bond that will (yes) help so much in the long run. You will treat them better, find out their likes and dislikes, but not only that you won't feel rush, and they will not feel the rush it. I'm giving this from personal experience. My bf and I have been together for about 2 years now, but it seems so much longer than that. We are best friends, and we've been friends our whole lives. Sometimes if you want the best relationship with the person that you know that is right for you, you have to give it some time.

It really depends on whether or not people have put up a false front to gain someones friendship. Once a more intimate relationship starts and that front crumbles, it may ruin not only the relationship, but the friendship as well. However, if both people are open and honest with who they are right from the start, then having an intimate relationship with your best friend can last forever.

Who knows if it is "always" better but I do think that it helps a lot in the long run of a relationship. My boyfriend and I were good friends for years before we started dating and it has helped so much in our relationship.

I don't think so. I think that you should be friends with your boyfriend, but I don't necessarily think it's great to start out that way because you could miss the window! What am I talking about? Well, if you're friends with a guy for too long he may have a hard time thinking of you in other ways/vice versa. On the other hand, friendships that developed into more over time could have staying potential because you really know each other well and accept each other, faults and all. I guess I'm in the middle on this one.

I personally think so. I don't think I could be in a relationship with someone I wasn't friends with first. I can date someone who I haven't become friends with, but the friendship would have to develop before the dating becomes a relationship.

I would think so. You get to know the person in a less intimate nature, and you can see what kind of person he/she is. Maybe you'll discover that you're not really into them, or you just like them better as a friend. Or you can even find out that you really do like them and want to be more... It's almost like doing research before writing a paper.

Yeah, it could be a good start. It shows that you're not rushing into things and just want to get to know each other on a gradual basis. The more you get along, the more you get involved. But as always, be careful, stay realistic, be honest and open.

i think it does....i mean when your friends with someone, there isn't any stress in dealing with dating, getting asked questions and having get dressed up just to impress them..
you get to be yourself, have fun, be goofy and they won't care cause there your friend...then after awhile when you relazie what an amazing man he can be for you relationship wise, i would think it would be a passionate thing...and you can go out to going to dinners and still wear jeans and no makeup cause there used to how you are..
so yes being friends first doesn't hurt
