I dont like raisins so I'm thinking of making oatmeal craisin (dried cranberries) with slivered almond cookies. I want a cookie that is like trail mix. Does this sound good? Should I add yogurt chips as well?

(I asked this question before but nobody answered if it sounded good)

You can add anything to oatmeal cookies. Its a great idea. If you want to keep them soft, throw a banana in the mix. Hydrate your dried fruits in a bit of orange juice, 3 min. in the microwave, for extra flavor.

The cookie sounds really good, but personally I'd skip the yogurt chips. The cranberries are already tart without adding another tart element. Also, I'd chop the craisins some as they can be pretty big for a cookie. I've made a similar cookie (using walnuts and/or pecans), and put in some toasted pine nuts. They add a buttery, slight crunch effect. Be careful toasting them though, as they burn easily (I put them in a not-too-hot dry frying pan, and keep stirring until they're toasted).

I think I just found a new cookie! I have never liked raisin cookies, because cooking raisins takes the flavor out of them. This sounds yummy. I think the yogurt chips would be to much. But some one else might not.

That sounds like an excellent cookie. Instead of using the yogurt chips, perhaps use organic dark chocolate chips instead. The bitter flavor of the dark chocolate would play nicely off the tartness of the dried cranberries and it is chock full of anti-oxidents that make it very healthy. You can also think of using dried cherries too, which would give a nice ballance of flavor!

The oatmeal craisin one sounds good to me.... maybe some white choc. chips?

Not too sure about the trail mix one... do a Google search for "Hermits"... they were a popular cookie in the 70's that were a lot like Trail Mix to me.......

It sounds great. I used to have a recipe that had oatmeal, raisins, nuts and chocolate chips in it and everyone loed it. Unfortunately it got lost in my move. I think craisins will make a great alternative.

I made cookies just like that from a recipe on the back of the craisins box... it called for white chocolate chips as well... they were yummy!

I just made oatmeal and craisen cookies over the weekend. They are delicious, but your addition of almonds sounds yummy too, plus healthy. Go for it!

My mom has made cookies that sound similiar to that and they were good. I would probably leave out the yogurt chips though.

I have had the Cowboy Cookies. Very yummy!!! The Almond Crescents don't taste good with pecans. I love pecans and tried it one time. Whatever you end up making have fun and send some over.
