Yes I feel a Great Depression could happen again if our economy continues to spiral downwards for extended periods. The best way to prepare for it is to start saving cash for when that time comes, credit cards will be useless.

I have been suffering from post partum depression for the past one year when I gave birth to a baby boy. I couldn't stop thinking about how my husband loves him more than me and how things might be better if he wasn't born at all. Thus, I stayed away from him because I knew that I might do something I will regret for the rest of my life.

Almost instantly I went to a therapist and convince them that I need help. Among other things, I've tried herbal supplements and other book to treat depression but nothing works like the Depression Free Method. So now I'm proud to say I'm one of the happiest mother in the world. My husband loves us both very much and I thank the Lord for the blessing he gave us.

Depression Free Method?

Not on the scale that it happened in 1929, because our financial systems have gotten a lot more secure. But depressions could happen.
But if something of the magnitude of the Great Depression was to happen again, I think a lot of people in our generation would not be prepared for it because we've quite frankly lost a lot of the skills for self-sufficiency that those people had (gardening, canning, sewing, etc).

I feel we are moving closer and closer to a great depression. I feel that when it happens, our government will conceal it, by calling it a recession, or something.
The poor working class keeps growing. We are losing our middle class. The wealthy keep getting wealthier.
The biggest threat is the exportation of work to other countries. Too many people are loosing their jobs to other countries. This is detrimental to the USA.
That's like with McDonald's. They wanted to import their beef from South America because it was cheaper. Its not South Americans that made McDonald's boom. Why is McDonald's turning their back on Americans? Because everyone else is, and they have to keep up.
Just keep in mind what happened with the animal food that was made in other countries.

Hello Pimpshar,

In my personal oppinion, yes absolutely it could happen again. The market is a volatile place, and can be drastically affected by too many things for me to say no.

With the increase of Terrorism, and the cost of Commodities being what they are, there is no way of preventing a Crash, we might be able to head it off and lessen the damage caused, but prevent it?

The key I think is to not have too many eggs in one basket, keep your Investment portfolio diverse, with the primary stocks being things that are stable, like Gold, Silver, Platinum, Oil, These are things that people are always going to need and you can readily watch the prices increase, without too many decreases in prices.

Essentialy stable ......

Depression, perhaps; but something as the Crash of 29, then I don't think so. For the media had their fair share of responsibility for what happened at that time and I believe they would refrain from throwing oil on the fire as they did during this bygone past.

Maybe not something like 1929, but something akin to it. And I think the media is even more irresponsible than in 1929. The difference between the haves and the have-nots is increasing and there is even less sympathy for those who have little.

No. I think the possibility of another great depression is rare.
However, if we keep having people like Bush in office than the possibility of it happening increases. He is in serious denial or ignorant of how things are getting worse for a lot of hardworking people. Discretionary income is nonexistent for a lot of people. The population is growing.

For me, I'm continuing my education and paying our bills. I am very careful with non-necessity spending.
