There are no laws that say a kindergartner MUST take a nap. Quiet time is allotted in K classes if time permits, but that doesn't necessarily say that the child must take a nap. They are in school to learn and to explore their worlds...come first grade I can tell you that there is no nap time, so K class is where they get used to staying awake all day. Do you make this child sleep at home on weekends?????

I do not think there is a law but it is extremly common for there to be a quiet time. This is for those children who DO need their nap time still to get their naps and the other children are suppose to sit on their mats and read or play queitly.

I still enjoyed my naps when i was 4-6 years old. Which is the average age range of Kindergardners.

probably not a law but it very may well be a school or district policy.
contact the school district office and ask them
