President George Bush, Jr. is a Texas Methodist.

Is it hate speech for the European Pope to berate USA Methodists?

from MSNBC News Services Updated: 9:52 a.m. ET July 10, 2007, "Pope Benedict XVI has reasserted the universal primacy of the Roman Catholic Church, approving a document released Tuesday that says Orthodox churches were defective and that other Christian denominations were not true churches.”

Absolutely right. The Church of England split from the RC church and re wrote some of the Christian teachings. Methodists then split from the Church of England along with many other denominations and sects, all of whom rewrote the teachings and bibles to say what they wanted.

America has done more than any other country to split and water down Christianity. The vast majority of offshoot churches and sects are American with so many versions of Christian teachings and rewritten bibles that they have basically stopped following the true Christian religion.

Basically American Christians have been bent on self destruct for years and are succeeding ever faster in discrediting Christianity!!!!!

No, but it is back tracking from the official doctrine of the Church and Catechism that states all religions have and seek God. He is a turn back the clock Pope. Let's hope it is a short papacy and that he does not have the time to stack the college of Cardinal like JPII did. But no hate speech must include intimidation and intent to incite violence.

Beside the speech and the paper were an Apostolic Exhortion which basically means this is the Pope's opinion it carries no official wait and is not doctrine. Apostolic Exhortion is the lowest of the low in terms of authority in a Papal Decree (actually it is not even a decree) soi it means little to nothing.

Here is the full text of the new document that states nothing new: http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cfaith/documents/rc_con_cfaith_doc_20070629_responsa-quaestiones_en.html

Most Christian denominations believe that each of them is the fullest version of the Church of Christ.

While the Catholic Church also believes that she is "the highest exemplar" of the mystery that is the Church of Christ, she does not claim that non-Catholic Churches are not truly Christian. The Catholic Church teaches:

Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements.

Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church.

All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him.

For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 819: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt1sect2chpt3art9p3.htm#819

With love in Christ.

Where does he berate USA methodists? I can't see any hate there - just the Pope ecxpressing an opinion which he has every right to do. Was telling us that George Bush is a USA methodist meant to mean something? If he is a typical example then I now know that USA methodists are hypocrites who use religion to further their own ends. (Apologies to all those USA methodists who do not follow in the footsteps of Fry em George)

Read what the pope actually said, and not what msnbc and the media interpret him saying. If that's hate speech then I guess every word that comes out of "Protestants" is hate speech, no? I mean they say Catholics, and the Orthodox are not true Christians everyday.

Also you must be retarded as the article or the Pope didn't say anything about GB, the United States or Methodists. I doubt he gives a **** about US Methodists or the US itself.

He was just restating Roman doctrine. How could this possibly be construed as 'hate speech'? I'm not even Roman, and I think if this is what his church teaches, he has an OBLIGATION to speak out.

PDQ,
That is his paid job as a "Pope". He is doing what they have done for years, no more and certainly no less. GOD will send CHRIST at the proper time and judge each of us as to his/her obedience and faith. I pray that what I do is pleasing to HIM. Have a wonderful week.
Thanks,
Eds
