It is a blessing. No one should throw a copy of the bible away. It is a sign from God as well. We should obey his word. Try him and see the great things he will do for you

You have to try to remember what it was you were saying before they gave it to you, trace the cause of the action and you will have the answer.
As to a used copy it could mean just about anything,
1, it's old they don't want it anymore
2, it's old it's been in the family for years and they value it and therefore value you.
3, it's the only one they had
4, It's an out of print version with text that differs from the king James or other formats

Anyway the root is probably in what you say to these people and who these people are, only you have the answers here I'm afraid

It depends on what the conversation was and how much you were drinking.

They maybe concerned that you are drinking to much OR may think that your beliefs need some Bible influence. I am given a Bible about twice a year. People seem to think being a Pagan is a bad thing and I am in serious trouble in the afterlife.

I do my best realize that generally these people do care about me or they wouldn't go to the trouble. I donate my extra Bibles to the women's shelter and the Salvation Army.

First of all a used copy of the Bible is just as good as one that has never been open.
Maybe they were trying to tell you that you were drunk and maybe your talk was inappropriate. When you are not drinking why not ask them why you were given the Bible?

I dunno maybe he has a hard time expressing love for you and cares for your soul ultimately and if he cant open up to you about God maybe he feels a Bible will do better and you can read and understand for yourself. BTW Samuel Adams is a good beer I prefer Guiness tho.

I did the same thing with my friend when he was heading in a bad direction and needed God in his life it was hard for me to tell him that so I gave him a bible and let Gods word work in his heart and by golly it worked praise be to God.

personally I prefer Moose head bear, or Alexander Keats(if I spelt that right) Maybe the person wanted to talk about Jesus with you. OR maybe you were a drunken fool. If you can not control your alcohol maybe you should not drink it.

You may have said something offensive or ungodly, if your friend cared about you they may want you to read it, or it might be a joke. Personally I have read the Bible in it's entirety three times, I still don't see the greatness of it all.

As long as the Sam Adams wasn't recycled all is well.

We've all made mistakes while drunk.

It means they're to cheap to give you another beer. They would rather give you a used storybook.

It means they would like you to read it.

You seem to be focusing on the fact that it is "used", which to me says, they didn't plan on this, it just came up, and they were willing to part with one that they had in order for you to have one.
