I mean they really have to get some crappy people. Plus I live in Texas. People here will answer the door with a shotgun for even thinking about trespassing. Doesn't it get old being treated like crap? I know you think you HAVE to go to door, but I'm asking if you LIKE it

I used to be a JW and can honestly say it is not that bad, it really did not bother me if someone was rude to me (in fact it set me in good stead for the work place, now rudeness just goes over my head) and I have to say most people are not rude, they just say "I'm not interested" which is fair enough. I was never one to push it, if someone said they are not interested I left it at that. The best way to get rid of the JW's though is to ask them to put you down as a "DO NOT CALL", they will then make a note of your address and ensure you are not called on again, most people don't know that, but that's inside information for you, if you really do not want them calling at your door all you have to do is ask them not to, permanently and they will respect that.

That might depend on the weather. In cold climates with sleet blasting in off a north wind they cannot possibly like it! Any amount of ridicule from nasty people they can thole (because that boosts their persecution complex) but the only way to cope with vile weather is to work blocks of flats or visit a contact who will have them in for an hour or so! (Or spend time on Yahoo R&S?)

Anyway, have pity on them because they all have to do it, children and babies being taken around too. Be nice to them. Just don't be fooled, thinking their gospel message is the right one. A false hope is no hope at all. As I said, have pity on them.

Oh ya! think of all the people you get to see in their jammies! also, the idea that they believe so in their faith that they want to share it - keeps 'em on the move! another deal here - be nice to people - when they knock say no thanks and have a good day! lucky everyone is not so paranoid that they need to answer the door with a gun! (keep the gun near tho!) Everyone does not treat these people like crap by the way!

Jesus sent his disciples forth as sheep among the wolves, when you are trying to encourage bible study, family is just like strangers. It seems like every one is opposed.
So the bible is Jehovah's Witness and Jesus is the greatest witness and he is the one that sent the ones he taught forth Luke 10:1 - 5;

JWs do that in order to make sure that every ear has heard the Good News. It's not about LIKING it. It's not about the angry idiots who answer the door. It's about being faithful to God's calling, even though JWs are a cult. They are at least being faithful to God's calling to spread the Good News.

When I was a believer, we used to go door to door for charity.

I hated it and felt like a beggar.

I would guess they don't relish the thought of upsetting others early on a Saturday morning, but do it out of a sense of duty.

From what I gather from those I know, they do. They seem to see it as part of their lifestyle - not a task. They do meet crappy people as you say and, frankly, I do not entertain them. However, the ones I know don't try to sell me anything or offer me anything. We chat about this and that on a friendly basis and that's about it. They seem to understand my position as a christian and we co-exist.

I don't believe in whatever they're selling. But Good Lord. So what? I've invited them in for coffee just because they're people and maybe they'd like a cup. And maybe they need to use the bathroom too, while they're at it. I don't mind.
