Absolutely!
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "If anyone travels on a road in search of knowledge, God will cause him to travel on one of the roads of Paradise." - Sunan of Abu-Dawood, Hadith 1631
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Seeking knowledge in (the company of others) for an hour in the night is better than spending the whole night in prayer." - Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 91
The Prophet also said: "The seeking of knowledge is obligatory for every Muslim." - Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 74
Imam Ali (a) said: “Do not seek knowledge for four aims: (1) Self glorification in front of people of knowledge, (2) Quarrelling with the ignorant, (3) Showing off in gatherings of people, (4) Attracting attention of people in order to secure an office of authority.” [Al-Majlisi, Bihar al-Anwar, vol. 2, p. 31]
Prophet Muhammad (s) said: 'One who proceeds on a path in the pursuit of knowledge, God makes him proceed therewith on a path to the Garden (Paradise). And, verily, the angels spread their wings for the seekers of knowledge out of delight. Verily, every creature of the heaven and the earth asks forgiveness for the seeker of knowledge, even the fish in the sea. The merit of the `alim (the learned) over the 'abid (the devout) is like the merit of the moon over the stars on a full-moon night. The learned are the heirs of the prophets, for the prophets did not leave behind a legacy of wealth but that of knowledge. So whoever partakes of it derives copious benefit.'" [Al-Kulayni, al-Kafi, vol. 1, kitab fadl al-'ilm, hadith # 1]

I'm a retired engineer by profession and consider modern science the only reasonable description of reality that humans have yet invented. Religion and philosophy, the unsubstantiated opinions of "learned" expert thinkers (who inevitably practice the Scholastic Method) are to be avoided at all costs. Humanity has already learned through bitter experience that physical experimentation is the only practical way to discover actual truth. If there is one central truth that supports my worldview, it is that only the physical realm is actually objectively real. Everything else is merely the result of subjective mental experience, which can often be interesting, but is never actually real. For any human being's opinion to be considered "Truth," it must always be consistent with the physical rules by which the known universe actually operates. I have spent my life diligently seeking the truth and have discovered that most of humanity is hopelessly mired in the ignorant superstitions of our ancient Solipsistic ancestors.

We are called the religion with homework for a reason.
I am Heathen, also called Asatru. We are a reconstructionalist faith, which means we do things the way they WERE done, not the way we think they should be. We use the Prose Edda, the Poetic Edda, the Icelandic Sagas, and multitude of archeological based books like Ellis's Myths and Gods of Northern Europe, etc. Most of us can pull up a verse in a heart beat. LOL My Wiccan friends are blown away with what I can spit out, and I am not NEARLY as versed as others.

Religions by definition do not promote searching for truth.
I prefer to be a bit of a skeptic, which I think saves me from being scammed by people promoting falsehoods while calling them true.
For quotes, look at just about anything by David Hume, or possibly Nietzsche (who was not as smart as Hume but had better quotes).

The course in miracles tells us that we need to unlearn everything that we thought that we knew.
It tells us to always have an open mind and never take any ones word for anything without thoroughly thinking it through.
It has been good advice for me.
Love and blessings Don

I experienced a wonderful Mystical event that sent me searching for knowledge and truth, and I am not a christian!
But I ended up in the Gospels of Thomas and the Contender Gospels found in the desert of Egypt at Nag Hammadi, hidden for nearly two thousand years. In the contender Gospels " Jesus said I am the knowledge and truth", well I found Jesus in these Gospels and many more truths!!
You can find them on my site , "TheAsender"

it is an miraculous question. If it were as a lot as me you are able to get 10 factors only for ASKING it. i for my section come from an self reliant Bible historic past and comprehend extra about Freemasonry than maximum individuals because my spouse's kin changed into once in touch with it and we studied it in college. i imagine I surely have solid established suggestion about it. The churches i study, truly do not care about your historic past. as long as your faith is in Jesus Christ, club is granted. There are others regardless of the reality that that note of Freemasonry for what it truly is, a "faith." In its decrease tiers it truly is little better than a social corporation that encourages church club. it is the position maximum Masons are at. there is little harm on a social factor. very equivalent to those those who play "church" on a weekly foundation. they don't truly harm the call of Christianity, yet they don't help it both. contained in the better tiers, it calls for further dedication to its unusual and secret techniques. perchance it truly is why Joseph Smith broke away and began the Mormon Church. He turned right into a severe degree mason even as he left to flow to Utah. The "pink meat" those churches have isn't with the decrease tiers, yet with the secret top tiers which have led to our forefathers (solid Masons ALL) to be labeled as Gnostics, fairly than Christians. you're top about the secrecy being an significant difficulty. maximum churches do not opt for to ought to wrestle an unknown gadget.
