They will only assist with the inflammation, so by calming that they reduce the pain. It depends on what the problem is, pulled muscle, arthritis? I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and prolapsed disc but no cortisone injections for me as the Doctors are not keen to give them as they know they are not the cure. All they tend to do is 'mask' the pain for a time during which time you can do more damage! Of the ones I have had for Golfers elbow, they relieved the symptoms for six weeks, but then it came back. Eventually the Doc said 'No more!' However I took up Pilate's exercise and that cured the problem!

Hubby and I were in a car accident 3 years ago. He had to get Cortisone shots in the lower back, and the pain was only relieved for a week. It all depends on your situation. I declined the shots because I don't want needles in my back. Best of luck to you!

It could work for days, weeks, or months...I hate to say it but it depends on the person. I've had 3 different shots that haven't lasted more then a week or so, but my dad (similar back situation) has had them last a few months.
I would say move forward and get it done as it is something that MAY help!

Depends. Could take more than one to help, or depending on the cause of the pain, one could do the trick
