I'm not loving or legalistic. I'm here for the laughs.

I get irritated occasionally, but I try to be nice. It is important to remember that written communication is about 50-60% (if even that much) of the meaning that we get when talking in person and it is very easy to take the words in the worst possible way.
As an example of this, read what Jesus said about telling a mountain to move out loud in a normal tone of voice, then do it with a very sarcastic tone. Notice how the meaning changes immensely. (Note: I am not implying anything by this, it is intended to illustrate the amount of meaning that is conveyed in spoken speech and not written.)
There are also a number of transitory and young contributors, that often just throw out a few comments without thinking about the effects.
Sorry a bit off topic, but I've been thinking about the "why are ------ so rude?" questions and this was along slightly similar lines.

If you look at all of my answers on R&S you will find me far more loving than legalistic. Yes, I am a Christian (a Catholic Christian, since many people don't know that Catholics are ALL Christians, since Christ and his teachings are at the center of our theology), yes, I believe in God and in Christ, his son, and in the Holy Spirit. Perhaps it is because I am older, and I came to Catholicism through a life of study of ALL religions and including atheism and agnosticism, and belonged to many distinctly non-Christian religions before I finally became a Catholic, but I do believe that God is SO LOVING and SO FORGIVING, and I know the 'story' of Christ's crucifixion on the cross (for ALL of our sins) that I know that God wants ALL of us to go to Heaven, and while some few may have to do 'some time' in Purgatory/Hell to learn lessons they didn't learn in this life, that BECAUSE God is 'outside of time and space,' we will ALL go to Heaven in the End ... and when I am there, I am looking forward to finding out 'the rest of the story.' Loving, not legalistic, but I would be a great attorney, too, I think ...

Yes I do. I try to bring understanding to this forum. Um, I seem to remember Jesus engaging in some name-calling in a few situations. I try to avoid calling people nasty names because that doesn't seem nice.
I do try to give answers that will help people understand something about themselves and others and spirituality and reality and belief. I genuinely hope to ease some minds and some tensions and to de-fuse some of the disputes that people can get into over matters of belief.
I think that's a loving way to act. I suppose I could be wrong.

I think I answer in a way that honors Jesus. I can't really use the term loving because, by human definition, I can be stern or straight forward. I think that society has come to view the term loving as sugar-coating, kind, tolerant, and enabling. Jesus's responses were provoked by a strong love for everyone and a desire for them to see the truth and repent. I try to emulate that, but Jesus never hesitated to rebuke someone, and sometimes harshly.

I think that Jesus would be pleased if we turned some tables over in Church today. God is not just love. God is also justice, power, light, wisdom, holy... We need to partake of all his attributes, so yes go in there and clean up your church, so that when Jesus knocks he won't hear "no room at the inn."

I try to let my nature be loving and non offencive here on R & S. I like to ask challenging questions and the responses are sometimes not in a polite manner which is uncalled for. I never lash back though as I think that is what the enemy wants me to do.

Yes, Jesus would, with only one exception that I ended up being sorry about. BTW, Jesus' indignation at that event was the fact the House of God, the place for prayer and worship was being used for secular (and often unfair and unrighteous) commerce.

I am in a state of mind for perfection and in my own righteousness I can often be very rude. So being righteous, I have lost myself to hate. When the Lord fixes my heart, I will love like Jesus and walk like him. Instead of a righteous devil.
but in my own defence I can not help it, when you try to open peoples minds....they seem so dumb, and I think even a child can understand it.
