the Dark Ages?

2007-11-26 02:10:59 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 8 1

Atheists are the beholders of the balance - thats politely said, with respect to Theists.
This world would be impossible without a balance it in.
Like the famous Yng and Yang. ("two mutually correlated opposites")
I am strongly convinced, that without balance no life on earth is possible. Man-woman, oxygen-CO2 (Carbon dioxide) a nice example, human inhale oxygen and exhale CO2, plants need CO2 to live and produce oxygen. The perfect harmony, circle or balance.
Theist-Atheist. To have an ongoing discussion, you need both of them.
But now honestly.
If there would have been 100% believers in religios practices, and not one sigle atheist, so there church or respective would rule the worls, and not Political Parties.
We would still have Crusaders raping in the name of god, we would have human sacrifice, thus killing hunan life in the name of god (or religion if you want), every scientist would be burnt to death, who would dare to claim that the earth is no flat, and earth not the center of the universe.
Thus, we would still be stucked in middle ages.

Now, what kind of world we could have, with not a single believer in god ? oh oh, I hope that day comes.
The pope still hates condoms. man !! in China they pay you money for not having more then one child ! Guess how those chinese guys laughing at the Pope. In India, the got serious birth control. well, just an example of the middle ages, we still stucked in some respects in some issues.

If skeptics (not necessarily atheists) didn't exist, we would, almost by definition, live in a frightening world in which the masses would be more easily controlled than even now. There would be a much larger division between the haves and have-nots. There is great correlation between the rise of civilization and freedom and the outspokenness of skeptics.

It would be like the Medieval Period, the leader of the theists group will gain full control of the government (Take the Pope during that period, for example, the Pope had almost unlimited powers, so powerful even the Kings had to listen to him). You will see different religions fighting each other. Holy wars will be declared like it is a norm.

Even in the Eastern part of the world, China and Japan, for example. In the olden days when religions and superstitions reigns, you see religious leaders taking part in politics and if that particular religion leader happens to be the "State religion" you can see people of another religion being oppressed.

It would only matter to those people that spend most of their time complaining about atheists. The rest of us would just go on with our lives just like we do now.

One remarkably unenlightened, with daily war over minutiae of doctrine, where science is actively stomped out in favor of fairy stories and lies.

You know, kind of like Europe in the Middle Ages, but on a grander scale.

This world would be a little less cruel if atheists did not exist.

Much the same as it is now, only religious folks
would have to resort to proselytizing other religions.

Just imagine, instead of a law to keep religion out of
school, you could argue about which religion. Just imagine
"Separation of christ and allah".

Imagine currency squabbles over "In buddah we trust".

How about "May zeus be with you"?

Well most modern inventions were provided by non godfearing people.

Biologists, Technologists, Archaeologists, Cosmologists, Astronomers etc.. are mostly non believers.

So first of all you wouldn't be communicating on Yahoo, our life expectancy would still be in the 40s, influenza would still kill millions each year. Your toilet wouldn't flush, and you would still think the sun revolved around the earth.

Well, look back to the dark ages...

It was punishable by death to be an atheist then. And look how well they lived! I can see why people would want to go back there.
