Is this like saying, "I'm not a Muslim, I just believe the Quran is the word of God"?

Or "I'm not a student, I'm just enrolled in school and taking classes"?

As defined in our time (which differs with generations), religion is the "church thing with rules." You can belong to a "religion" and not even believe in God.

The relationship with Christ is what Christians use to refer to themselves as being saved.

Being religious implies you belong to a religion, not necessarily have a relationship with Christ.

People that have a relationship with Christ are religious, but not all "religious" people are Christians.

Using your example, someone MAY take classes at a university and not be enrolled as a "student." They may also simply be auditing a class, and therefore not be defined as a student.

Christianity can be more of a relgion some times but it's supose to be a relationship with christ not just walking through actions it's not about what you do it's about growing with your walk with Christ not about how you worship or the words you say to god.You can very well be a Christian and not go to church the definition of Christian is often miss understood.Christian faith isn't about witch church you go to but reseving Jesus as your saviour and beliving the Bible.
You can be a non Christian and go to church ever sunday going through the actions but still not be in relationship with Christ there for you aren't really a christian as of what the Bible says. It's not about Christianity it's about Christ we dont' care about the religion it's Christ who we want to connect with . It's not about the good deeds you do or the one's you don't do it's about the forgiveness found in Christ.

The reason most Christians say there not relgions is because it's not based on rules. You can be Christian with out being religious Christian basicaly means reseving jesus as your saviour and beliving the old and new testiment of the Bible.A relationship with christ

It's like they're admitting that religion causes problems and thus don't want to be associated with it, yet they can't let go of their religious beliefs. It's also painfully arrogant, as if other believers don't think they have a relationship with their deity.

Its too early to pick on don.....

I think he means, that there is no reason to get hung up on tradition and that his version of rule less belief is just as valid as someone indoctrinated by a denomination.

Which I agree with.

I don't believe in God, but have found that people who don't get too hung up in scripture or denominations tend to be a little less 'crazy', and a little more loving.

A religion is a set of rules. You can have a relationship without following rules other people define for you.

....And "Christianity is not a religion" is like Bush is not a President he just runs the (USA) country.

Just as atheist MEANS 'no god' Belief in a god is a religion, all else is just semantic bul******t

This leads to two points:
1 - if Christianity is not a religion then why are they in R&S, because I have bet only a few spiritual Christians.

2 - If you want us to re-classify Christianity - what about = "Occult Superstition" or "Ancient Mythology" - they fit the bill.

religion is what people BELIEVE and their foundation of life. the relationship is walking with God everyday. God doesn't care what domination you believe in, as long as you believe in him and you are saved and have a relationship with him daily in prayer and reading.

No, it is not the same. Religion has nothing to do with Christianity. In the new testament, mainly Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, Jesus called the religious leaders a generation of vipers (snakes). That doesn't sound to me like you have to be religious to have a relationship with Christ.

Jesus's last name was not Christ.
It is an energy, to be christ-like.

We all have that power to be christ-like.

Even if you do not believe per say in any religion.
