By the first answer, I'm guessing Kirkland is a brand from Costco. Farberware to me, is a very cheap brand. I don't belong to Costco, so I can't help you on the Kirkland. But in my opinion, if you want a really good quality set of pans for your son, spend some money and get him something like Le Creuset or All-Clad. They are very expensive, but they will be the only set he'll ever need.

Once being a buyer for a department store, all the products are the same. Sometimes they come out of the same factory with a different label. Save money and buy kirkland. Costco products are very reputable.

Farberware is better, just don't get the non-stick because the coating wears off over time.

I have _never_ had a problem with Kirkland products. I'd go with those.
In fact, I've always been thrilled with their products.
