Can my friend in america buy a return ticket leaving from london going to Los angeles, and send it over to me? would it be illegal for me to use this?

i.e. is it possible to buy a ticket from the country you intend to fly to (and get it sent over via post), rather than from the country you are flying from...
thanks!!

Yes, it's perfectly legal. You don't even need to send a ticket by post. All major airlines now have electronic tickets, so your friend can simply pay for the airfare and e-mail you the confirmation number and flight times. You don't need to pay to have it shipped and you don't have to worry about it getting lost.

There can be restrictions on buying a ticket outside the country of origin. Check the airline reservations/ticketing department directly to learn more.
