Twice, at the most. After that, hire someone else because it's obvious they are no longer interested in the job.

Why? Are you hiring? I need a job, lol. Just joking. I'm a Pilot (Captain) got a wonderful job, I'm very much sure you can't match my paycheck, even when I do work 5 days out of a month you could not match my pay. But anyway, I would keep trying, 3 or 4 more times, if they don't reply back, than hire someone else that is in need of a job...

I say twice if the number you called was theirs and I think if they had to give another persons phone number (maybe they don't have a phone at home) then maybe 3 times, but if you have left messages no more than 3. If you can't rely on them to at least call you back and let you know they want it/not interested anymore, they probably wouldn't be good employees anyway. Give the job to the next person in line.

If your hiring them to work a french fry machine then once. If they are being recruited to a management position or some skilled trade then as many as you have to in order to get them in the organization. If you've called ten times or more over two weeks then it's safe to assume they don't want to work for you or your company and it's time to move on. Cheers.

give them the benefit of the doubt and call them every day for about a week or so, if you don't get a response then perhaps they are avoiding your calls and just don't want to tell you that they have decided on something else. and if that's the case, then they would probably wouldn't make a very good asset to your company anyway, they could at least have the decency to tell you that they have changed their minds, instead of leaving you hanging, because during the time you spend trying to reach them to no avail, you could be interviewing others for the position.

If you are the person doing the hiring? I say only three times. If they don't call you back, either they don't want the job or they are not reliable enough to reach. Either way you do not want them.

As many times as you want that person to work for you because sometimes they don't have a phone and the message you leave can't get to them and they don't know about it. (what kind of job is it and where because I know someone that needs one A.S.A.P)
