I think that the overall goal of any religion is to provide its followers with a set of instructions on how they should live life in the best possible way, that both benefits the individual and the society as a whole.

However, the majority of mainstream religions have re-established their goals and crave money, power, unquestionalble respect and total control.

Let us be clear first of all that Christianity is not a religion. It is a life lived in the life of the resurrected Christ as all Christians will be like Him as demonstrated in His own life that there is life eternal be resurrecting from the dead. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) The goal of any religion is to be right again with God through so many ceremonial, traditional, superstitious faiths and laws. In religion, man fashions a god that he can handle. There are more religious people in the world than those who are not. But these religious people does not even want that their religion will interfer with their sinnings. So these are "Religious Sinners".

Clearly there are MANY differing religions, but to put it simply on some level I think all belief systems have the goal of happiness. Whether it be from following the Bible, the Koran, the Talmud, or any other direction.

While we may believe in differing paths, and moralities, we do so with a certain happiness. Many paths also teach, on some level, of a reward from being faithful to their beliefs.

Every religion has a different goal. Even three divine religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam have different objectives, as they stand today.

The Hindus aim at pretibhuva.... ie gaining salvation from infinite life death rebirth cycle. The Buddhists aim at nirvana, which is salvation from problems of life.

Christianity as it stands today, has already gained salvation, through death on crosss by Jesus Christ. Present day Judaism plans to regain the status of chosen people and to rule the earth from throne of David.

The basic aim of a Muslim is to gain the 'Rada' ( pleasure ) of
Allah who is the Creator and Sustainer of worlds. But the present day Muslims are content with money, car and a luxurious residence or at best they are happy with success in the hereinafter with resulting palaces in the paradise.

Hardly anyone loves the Most Loving and Most Gracious Lord and spends life in accordance with His wish.

Those who said control, money, and power have never gone
to the right Bible-believing churches. One goal is to live a
good decent life and caring about and helping others to
receive God's blessings while here on this earth. We also
do not want others to miss the final goal of being with Christ
when this life is over and we move forward to a better place
with Christ and His other followers in heaven....so we need
to tell others about Christ and His Kingdom so they too will
have glory and eternal happiness in heaven. Why would
anyone want to miss this final "goal"? Look for Him now
before it's too late. My faith has nothing to do with power,
money or control so don't listen to those who have not found
the reason for living yet....they may be the ones missing when
we, who believe, are in heaven.

The goal of any religion is to create a peaceful society in this world as well as the others. Some times the ones in control get corrupted by the powers of money, loyalty, etc.

Think of religion as a place where people, on the edge of killing themselves or someone they know, go to be convinced that all of their problems can be given to a being called "God". All of a sudden they lose interest in hurting themselves or others. That among other things, like giving life a purpose. A lot of people don't realize this but there's nothing to desire in this world. Life becomes dull after a while.

The "goal" of Christianity is to spread the Gospel.

What is the Gospel? It is the news that the kingdom of heaven is available to any person who so chooses to enter into (accept) the covenant of the New Testament for the salvation of their soul and forgiveness of their sin thru Jesus, Son of the one true God.

It is to tell the world about God's love and mercy.

It really IS that simple.

The REST of the "religions"?

Strictly speaking, religion is the practice of repetitive behavior. The goal is to develop a pattern of belief and worship.
