Why do you have to give a beggar anything? There are plenty of charity people as myself who give to the local pantry and also volunteer. I would just give someone the information. Obesity is caused by a lot of medications also. A lot of them are disabled and can't move around a lot that can cause obesity. Your dealing with a whole lot of issues here. The fact that someone is overweight doesn't make them bad. They are sick people trying to get well. Most have mental issues. I personally feel you can't be overweight and poor. Somebody is going to feed you guaranteed in America. Sometimes the poorer you are the government will take care of all your medical. The Social Security is slacking quite a bit they don't offer dental or eyeware on their plan. You just have to look at the whole picture. That's my biggest gripe is how the government takes care of the elderly.

Not really. There can be many causes for obesity, food is not the answer all of the time. Thyroid problems, certain medications, and certain diseases can make people obese. Did you know that getting less than 6 hours sleep per night can make a person obese?
But the Bible tells us that we need to be careful who we "entertain", or meet, because they may be angels in disguise. So we should be kind to everyone, such as beggars.

I rarely speak to beggars, as it is more effective to contribute to organizations that feed homeless people. This tends to ensure that the money is used for food rather than alcohol or drugs. As far as obese beggars, I have seen very, very few of them, and there are several medical conditions that will cause obesity.

Tell them to get a freaking job...possibly at Mc Donalds they more than likely know them already. Its not your responsibility to save the world. Every major city in the country has a free soup kitchen. If your really that worried find the one near you and the next time they ask give them a card with the address

There is a disease that some people have, they are compulsive eaters. Normally the stomach would send a signal to the brain, indicating it is full, stop eating, however some people, this signal stops short, and they feel the need to eat all the time.
What would I do, as I usually do, if I have some extra bucks, I give it out, what would I say, "Here you go friend."
Don't judge people by the way they look or if they are fat or skinny. It's what's inside your heart that matters.

I would give them money, and say 'God bless you, I hope this helps'.
Obesisty can be caused by certain medications and medical treatments, as well. I know steroids, such as Prednisone, can cause weight gain.
But I would give anyway, because God has instructed us to give to those who ask, to help those in need. I will admit that I do occasionally feel some reservation about those in clean and ironed clothing and new shoes.
But I know many churches and shelters provide these things as well. So I just give what I can. And I let God deal with those who lied.
Hope I helped. God bless you.

As salaamu 'alaikym, my friend.
Insha'Allah, we should always try to assist those who ask for the same.
Insha'Allah, if someone is asking for money so that they can buy food, purchase food for them and give them the food instead of the money. It is difficult to play video games with a cheese sandwich and crisp.
Ma'a salaam

Hey man don't be a tool ! If you can spare the cash, do something nice. Hey the worse thing that could happen is that he dies of a heart attack, but guess what? That's a good thing, no more begging. lol

I struggle with this question every time I leave the WalMart parking lot. There is a guy sitting there with his "Help a Homeless Vet" sign, two dogs, smoking cigarettes. I cannot bring myself to give him anything. I probably would do the same with a fat begger. So be it.

The latest studies show that most of the poverty stricken people in the US are fat because the cheapest, free, soup kitchen, welfare foods are fattening. They are never given fruits, veggies or juices. Could that be a factor?
