I'm looking for something other than Turkey.

Turkey and the 14 different sides is getting old. What's your favorite Christmas dinner recipe.

My husband's parents always do steak & lobster, or abalone or prime rib, or some other un-traditional fare.

Christmas dinner for me never gets old.

It only happens once a year so I don't know how you could get bored.

My family has pate on toast & prawn cocktail for starter, turkey, pork & beef, stuffing, roast potatoes, yorkshire puddings, mashed swede, roasted parsnips, cabbage & leek, sprouts, carrots, gravy, pigs in plankets, stuffing balls for main and then lots of different puddings to choose from, usually yule log & custard, christmas pudding, trifle!!! And then later we pick at the leftover meat and chocolates that we've received from family and maybe some cheese & crackers!!

I live on the east coast where we always have a Christmas Flounder stuffed with crab and shrimp. I think it's an old traditional meal for the less well off. If you lived by the sea, there was always something to eat.

TG is enough turkey for me for 2 months.

We usually do Filet Mignon steaks, twice-baked potao, and roasted asparagus. Maybe a nice salad and rolls. One dessert, usually chocoalte.

We've also done grilled shrimp; crown roast of pork (loin w/ bones still attached); prime rib (ribeye roast); and lobster tails on the grill.

Just think of a nice meal w/ a starch and a veggie, maybe a salad, and be done with it! :-)

We change it up each year. We've already done lasagna, spiral ham, pot lucks (everyone bring a favorite dish then serve it buffet style) and once we decided to grill burgers and hotdogs as sort of a christmas in summer (we lived in a cold climate during christmas).

Coming from the Midwest US, my family always had standing rib roast with some sort of potato and a salad when my family cooked.
If my grandmother cooked she would make a huge batch of beef and vegetable soup and make homemade bread to serve with it.
Dessert has always been an array of family favorite pies, pecan, pumpkin, lemon meringue, chocolate cream. and of course ginger bread.

We always have prime rib and cold shrimp. Sides differ every year but the primary foods remain the same :).

My husband and I started doing seafood a few years ago. Deviled crab, crab legs, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, and cheddar biscuits.
