I believe any religion can become a cult.
It depends on the leader and what he installs in the minds of his flock!

One can consider any organized religion a cult. By extension, "cult" has come to connote the total cultural aspects of a religion, as they are distinguished from others through change and individualization. Well-known global cults include Islam and Christianity.

No,Christianity is not a cult!!! I was a member of a church that was considered a cult. Our Pastor controlled every minute of our lives. He told to fast for long periods of time, he would also tell us what to eat when to eat what to pray for when to pray what time to wake up and even to the point of telling us not to go to the bathroom after we woke up, because we had to get out of bed and lay down on our faces on the floor and pray for new members to come to our church. We were to pray for 45 minutes for new members before we could go to the bathroom or have coffee (decaf only) we lived in our own houses. We could do what we wanted. Some of us truly thought that God did tell him when we would go to the bathroom before praying. I now know that common sense told him that many of us could never live up to what he told us to do and that is why he made the phone calls and dropped by to check (to see if the TV was on) and it went on and on. Christianity in of itself is not a cult. I left this church and became a member of a normal church, It took several month to truly deprogram me.

In a cult, people follow blindly just because an energetic PERSON tells them to.
To be born again Christian is to "KNOW" because we experienced God and The TRUTH of CHRIST. NOT because someone pleads with us, but because GOD SHOWS us.
"A PRAYER"I KNOW how many kids were scared away from God by MISguided parents AND CLERGY!!!
I dropped the Catholic church as a child because I "knew" they were missing the point at MY church....NOT all churches MIS GUIDE tho~ People? WELL, PEOPLE have the potential to ruin everything.
NOT GOD tho'
SInce my first abuse against me, I knew ONLY GOD would ALWAYS be there for comfort. How did I know? He guided my reactions and TOLD me NOT to behave like a victim, as victims suffer ETERNITY and THAT means sATAN wins.
Each crime against my BODY, strengthened my FAITH that GOD is AlWaYs there to teach us what we need to be in order to serve His mission to bring the HURTING people to Him.
All trauma suffered is A GIFT for those that will ask HOW to use the pain TO help OTHERS not SUFFER~In Jesus precious name I write THE truth. Truth IS KNOWN BY THOSE that HAVE ASKED CHRIST into THEIR hearts,
We do NOT "KNOW" what we "KNOW" because we read it in a book, or because misguided parents TRIED to teach us.... WE have LIVED, I SAY LIVED! THE knoweledge WE have GaIneD! TRUST IN THE LORD when HE puts it on YOUR HEART TO pursue Him~
Trust IN the LOVING TRUE Christians THAT O N L Y ask that you "hear" our LOVE FOR GOD AND CHRIST~ OUR Goal is TO G I V E YOU Peace, Answer His call as HE USES us to SHARE His LOVE for YOU.YOU are worthy OF His LOVE. NEVER doubt the extent OF THE BLESSINGS that are already YOURS, and the N E W BLESSINGS you, YES YOU, will RECEIVE WHEN YOU~ YES YOU!~ Ask Christ to come into YOUR HURTING HEART~ JOIN THE LIVING, THOSE LIVING with CHRIST as their instructor and MENTOR.
In JESUS PRECIOUS NAME! I KNOW that YOU are being reached by THIS post. DO NOT REBEL and get MOODY, JUST get PREPARED! PREPARED for an understanding that is BEYOND YOUR YEARS~

Neither.
According to the Bible, all Christians are born-again. If one is not born again, one is not a Christian.

I think with "born agains" it is more emotional than theological.

Christ told me to tell you all that when he said he was the "son of God", he wasn't talking about your loving God. His father is the master of deception. The proof is that he convinced many to stop worshiping God and start worshiping him.
