we are not to question God's word; but we are to study to show ourselves approved. this whole thing makes little to no sense to me. Even Jesus studied the scriptures and this is to be enough for me today 2000 years later? I would think God would want us to ask questions so that we can say without a doubt that his word is 100% truth. Am I just to memories the bible and believe with out understanding?
I always thought there are no foolish questions - only foolish answers.

Yes, you are supposed to accept the Bible as truth before you are allowed to understand/interpret it.

(What a great way to make sure that dissenters opinions are invalidated.)

How do you understand anything? That's the reason people
go to school. Without someone teaching them and books they
have to read, they would not learn anything much. Same with
the Bible. You must read it to understand it. Go to Sunday
School class and a teacher there will teach you (just like
in public schools). Watch some of the better preachers on
tv and you're bound to learn something from their sermons.
To me, this all makes a lot of sense. How can you say it "makes no sense to you to study the Bible"? Faith comes
by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Get a good
commentary (Bible store employee will help you pick it out)
to help you understand what you are reading.
Go slow....take a couple verses at a time and read it along
with your commentary. Attend a good church (Independent
Christian: for example) that believes and teaches from the
Bible. Pray for God to open up His word to you (before you
start reading). All these things should be of help if you're
really sincere in wanting to understand the Bible and what
it says to us today, what happened in the past and how
it affected those prophets and kings, and then most exciting
of all, it how it all will end (Daniel and Revelation).

We never know all the facts.

Furthermore, to choose to serve God does not mean having to believe in the Bible is 100% truth. Actually, you can have a relationship with God and serve God without the Bible. The Bible was originally made for man, man was not made for the Bible.

But which word of God?
While some may be naively inclined to believe the Bible was simply zapped into existence from the sky may be able to believe they hold THE word of God, anyone with even cursory knowledge of the book's history knows this makes no sense.
Jews in the lower middle ages took it upon themselves to put back ancient scriptures of their faith together. The Christian Church later on took their work and modified it to suit their own taste. Protestants later took out some books and added some passages they felt the Catholic Church had been unjustified in adding, etc...
Not to mention a lot of these texts were put together by linguists working tirelessly on incomplete sources, often from different times and in different dialects.
There is not a single book on this earth that can claim to be the word of God "as is". People still have to use judgment.

(Unless you believe the Koran is that book of course, but like over 4 billion people, I don't).

The problem is that Scripture tends to contradict itself in many places. It happens because it is a compilation of writings by men who were attempting to explain their own personal interpretation of faith. They all started with the existing scripture, and some we will never know about, and added on with their own interpretations and stories about God.

So as a result, you have a bunch of descriptions and laws that attempt, but don't quite fit.

This results in followers having to ignore passages, or lean heavily on one passage over another. Think about the many doctrines of hell. Some say it is everlasting some say it is just sleep, others say it is fire and torture, some claim it is just seperation from God.

If the bible was clear, everyone would have a single interpretation. The truth is pretty clear if you look at the bible pragmatically. It is just a book written by men trying to define their personal faith, without any proof other than personal impression and emotion.

Jesus said to love the lord with all your heart, soul and Mind. Why would he have said Mind if he didn't want you to use it? You should certainly study and ask questions. The problem for some seems to be that they don't want to accept the answers. If you are willing to study with some humility and an open mind, you will go far in gaining wisdom and understanding.

We should follow Gods word. If you follow it you will see that all events happening on earth are written in the Bible. Thats proof that Gods word is true. The bible actually advises us on the right paths to take in life. Also it has actually has guided me through problems I was having.

He does want us to ask questions and seek answers.
The understanding comes with His Holy Spirit, which is given to those who accept the possibility that Jesus is and did what He said He would do.

You don't need to know all the facts to know about your car, a TV, or this computer in front of you. All you need is to know that it will do what it is suppose to do when you do certain things. You trust and and faith that it will do and will continue to do what it is suppose to do.

The line has been drawn. Choose this day what you will do about the reality of Jesus in your life. Have trust and faith that He will do, and continue to do, what He is suppose to do.

Titus 3:9... I don't think this is about law... : )

Those who love and seek he truth receive a gift from God called faith.
Through faith a man receives revelation from God.
Through revelation a man develops a personal relationship with God.

To find the facts.... one must study...

2Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto G_D, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

To question is to study... .and to study is to question. He doesn't tell you not to question or study... but to do it... for as you do and split the lies away... you will end up finding Him.

Man is who says... don't question what I say.
