No they don't and isn't Muhammad one of the most common names? Maybe the fanatics in Sudan don't like the concept of democracy.

No, to us Prophet Muhammad is just a prophet. No special abilities or powers except that God chose him as a messenger, same for us as Jesus, Abraham, Noah, Moses, etc.
I think it's incredibly rediculous to jail someone or even get angry at someone for naming a teddy bear Muhammad. First off, they didn't name it Prophet Muhammad. Second, Muhammad is a very common name to have, so as a name it certainly isn't a taboo. Third, they're acting as if she named the bear Allah. Now, I think if that had happened, they might have a little more understanding on my part. But she didn't. And they don't.
People are just really making me frustrated lately. Punishing people by a way which doesn't fit the crime, or the "crime." I'm getting really disappointed in humanity lately and wondering if there are any sane people out there, or if there's some sort of infection spreading causing people to lose every bit of rationale...

as salaamu 'alaikym, my friend.
Insha'Allah, no, the Prophet Muhammad (sallaahu 'alaihi wasallaam) is not considered the "son of God" as such would be blaspheme to a Muslim.
Islam is monotheisitic in nature believing in only One God, Allah, Subhanna wa Ta'ala (i.e., God , Glorified and Exalted) who has no associates, partners, equals nor sons or daughters.
In Islam, all of the prophets of Allah (swt) (may Allah be pleased with them all) are equal and none are considered higher than another. Muhammad (saw) is the Last Prophet of Allah (swt).
Insha'Allah, in virtually all countries with a large Muslim population and out of respect for the Prophet Muhammad (saw), when one is given the name of the Prophet (saw) the spelling is altered such as Mohammed, Mahammed, Mehammed, Mehommad, etc.
This teacher (a Christian at a Christian school in a largely Muslim nation) obviously did not understand this custom however, as a foreigner living in a nation with a culture different from ones native culture, one should make every effort to learn the appropriate costums so as to not offend anyone.
Her principal or dean should have known the same and he or she should have been more aware of what his or her teachers were doing.
She would not have named the bear "Jesus" if she had been in England or America. This same consideration should have been extend to the name of the Prophet (saw).
Ma'a salaam

NO NO NO!!! NOT AT ALL.
God has NO spouse or children. God is not like the rest of Creation. Muhammad and Jesus (peace be upon them) are both Prophets and Messengers of God.
Both Jesus and Muhammad (Peace and blessings upon them) were such prophets who were given holy books by Allah. The Quran says about Jesus :
"He said : I am indeed a servant of Allah. He has given me the book and made me the prophet." (19:30)

No they are not supposed to. Remember the muslim riots over the Mohammed drawings? Muslims are explictly told not to draw images of Mohammed as it can lead to idoltry. They see him as a man who received divine revelation but not a messiah.
However there are muslims who are misguided in their beliefs. Those are the radicals who warp Islam's ideals for their own ends.

I believe he's rather regarded as a prophet, so he would be something like John the Baptist in Christian Bible !

No, they see him as a prophet. God is seen as one and without any companion or divisibility.
