My best friends husband is Mormon and she is JW.. They have recently starting going to a Mormon church every sunday.. She is doing this to make him happy and she is ok with going..

It is just that she is really confused about some of the things that they say in the church.. Keys to heaven and different levels of heaven. I understand what they are saying, not that I agree but I understand what they are trying to say.

I was wondering if there was a book, other then the book of Mormon, that I might get her to help her understand better.. Sort of a Mormon book for dummies..?

Honestly, I seem to recall one of the "" for dummies books being about Mormonism. If you go to your local book store they can help you.

I am a Christian, one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

As for whether or not those of us on Y!A can be adults, yes, sadly most choose not to.

Of course the missionaries would love to come over to her house, but there is a book that her husband may have already that might be of use to her. It's called Preach My Gospel. It's spiral bound, and costs less than $20, I think I got mine for about $12, but I'm not sure. It hasn't been out all that long, is designed for missionaries, but is also a really good tool to help with personal study. It contains all the general guidlines for the discussions that the missionaries give.
Also, reading the Doctrine & Covenants might help her with some of the "levels of heaven" concepts. Also the CES website below might help as well, it's a link to CES manuals (CES = Church Educational System)

I don't know about actual books but I do have a couple of suggestions. They might see if his ward has a Gospel Essentials class. This class is taught on and off and new converts or investigators are invited to come to it along with any members of the ward. It is during the time that they would normally go to Sunday school.

The second is that she may consider looking around www.mormon.org. It explains the basic beliefs of the LDS church and is designed for people who are just being introduced to the church. She can also email missionaries questions on this site.

The third option, if she feels comfortable doing so, is to talk to the missionaries. They give up two years of their life and pay their own way to go teach other people the gospel of Christ, and would love to explain things to her or answer her questions.

She can do one (or both) of two things, get "discussions" with the missioinaries that will meet with her on a regular basis and teach her about the mormon church, or obtain a Gospel Principals book that will explain the different teachings of the church. The Church she attends should provide her with one free of charge if she asks.

Reading the Book of Mormon would be your friend's best choice in understanding about the three degrees of glory along with the other doctrines the book reveals.

Another one, however, would be Doctrine and Covenants, Section 76.

Kingdom of the Cults, by Dr Walter Martin.

Edit: The two religions, JW's and LDS, are polar opposites. I don't see how they can be married and both adhere to the tenets of their respective religions. The JW will see the LDS as unsaved. The LDS man's purpose to achieve god-like status in the afterlife and call his "wife" to be with him. She's a JW. BOTH are hoping/assuming that the other will convert. How will they raise their kids? Is she a practicing JW or one that was merely raised as one? Does she spend Sunday morning in her Kingdom Hall? Does she go door to door? Does she celebrate "his" holidays? Lots of problems with this situation and question. IF she really wants to know about the Mormon church, she should go to her JW pastor.

...sadly, she's getting deeper and deeper into a "cult"... (as are the JW's who are "handled" by their "leash" holders in Brooklyn NY)... God forbid !
