Insurance companies can be very funny about this, for example they will not pay out if your keys are stolen out of your house through the letter box.
The main thing to do is report the key being stolen to the police and then if the car is stolen you may have a leg to stand on.
Ja.

You have to take "reasonable care", i.e. not leaving your keys around to be stolen, not having your name & address or registration number on them, not being careless about dropping them as you walk away from the car, etc. If you have taken care, no problem.

It depends on whether your car keys were stolen when you "lost" them or not. Do you know where you lost your car keys?

They ought to pay out, but they will certainly look carefully at the circumstances of the "loss"
