I believe there's a time and a place for quoting Scripture. My fellow Christians and I should refrain from quoting the Bible to people who don't believe in it, unless it's relevant. For example, if the non-Christian (sorry to lump all atheists, Muslims, agnostics, Taoists, Buddhists, Wiccans, pagans, and Hindus together but...it's just a lot easier) has a question about a Bible verse, then it would obviously be relevant.
However, if a non-Christian asks a question about who actually wrote the Bible, or if there's any historical, archaeological, or scientific evidence to support the Bible, quoting the Bible would not be relevant.
Anyway, the reason we do so is because it's our source of spiritual information. Like scientists quote from or cite various books, dissertations, and experiments, Christians quote the Bible. Yes, it is the same thing.

I resist being called an athesist!
In seriousness, Bible-believers use quotes from the Bible to try and make sense of a world they believe is created by their deity.
Why would they care what atheists believe? As far as Bible-believers are concerned, atheists are just more proof of the 'truth' of their Bible. If an atheist questions the Bible's authoritahhh, the Bible has a clause that says, basically:
"Anyone that rejects our 'Lord' is a fool, and further proof of the Truth of Prophecy!!"
Try arguing with that built-in circular logic?

The bible talks to all people from different points of view. It leads the believers in a holy life to be more like Jesus.
The quotes are our guidance in life.

Assuming you mean "atheists" you make a good point. It's illogical for someone to claim it is the word of God without first establishing the existence of God.

I've not met any athesists. What do they believe in?
Regarding quoting the big book of mistruths at somebody who knows it's all nonsense, yes that is rather pointless.

Its part of the breathtaking irrationality and delusion of religion.
To any sane person such action is, indeed, totally mad. However, to be fair to them as they lack any other evidence of their god of any kind whatsoever at any time in the whole of history then without bible bashing their conversations would be pretty short.

Christians are Satan's puppets dancing the song of confusion among atheists. The world was fine, Christ comes along and flips everything around confusing everyone and everything. Oh, and they killed him not for our sins, but for being a jerk to all of the holy men and men of power.

One quote shows us that the Atheist has a holiday of their own. Psalm 14:1 says,"The fool says in his heart, there is no God." So April 1st is the Atheist National Holiday!
