Christmas festival is such a wonderful occasion that it brings happiness in every one. I also feel very happy though I am a Hindu.I feel this festival time is the most appropriate time to forget all past bitter feelings, pardon others and get yourself pardoned. On this day one great soul emerged on this earth. If I were in your shoes, I would have gone for the best gift, which may end all bitterness of the past.

Something that she would really like (if she is really that bad and nasty to you, maybe she won't know what to do or say when you get her something nice). You might be surprised, it might backfire on you too. Or, you could turn your desire to not give her a a gift into something positive, such as buy her a donation to an overseas aid project in her name eg. a donation that will help towards establishing clean drinking water or buy some goats for people in a village struggling with poverty. But, she might like that. It does not sound like the spirit of Christmas to be mean to family, even if you don't like them.

Give her child back to her, and tell her its her turn to babysit him/her again. Or if that is not an option, give her a gift certificate for an adult book store. After all, keep in mind the charming gift she gave you when she gave birth to your spouse.
