Or to let it happen? Because of something their distant ancestor did?

Unless they accept Jesus as their personal saviour.

However, if they never got a chance to hear about Jesus, or died too young to understand it...tough luck. It's sizzle time.

I mean, it's kind of sick, no?

You know, questions as asinine as this really don't deserve an answer. You so obviously know so very little about Christianity, but feel yourself very clever to sit around and think up nonsense questions for people to "ponder" over and admire your deep thinking. NOT. You really didn't ask for real information. You just asked because you thought it was witty.

The only real question is why do you worry about it at all, since you are obviously not Christian?

I think it depends. If a baby dies, then they had no chance to learn. They are not burned forever and ever. Doesn't one think about their religion and aren't they curious about other people's views? I researched many religions and my conclusion is this. We all pretty much believe in different things but the end result is the same unless you are an atheist.

They say God is merciful but its like here on earth. You do the crime you do the time. So ask for forgiveness and don't do it again. This life is just a test. The afterlife is forever. Do good deeds here on earth and be a good person. Do not cheat anyone, try and stay away from sins, and help those less fortunate (that is if you can).

You know if you do sins you will pay the price. Unless you ask for forgiveness and do not repeat your sins. Everyone knows this but a lot of people don't care. So is it sick that you are burned forever and ever for your sins? I don't think so. Because you know what will happen if you sin. This life is a test. If you fail the test, you will not be rewarded. Simple as that.

Well, I am not a fundy, But a True Born again Christian, No one will ever be burned for eternity in the lake of fire, many today thinks hell is eternal,so if hell would be eternal, Then why does Rev. 20:14 Says that death & hell will be cast into the lake of fire, The lake of fire is not eternal either, If a wicked soul would burn without end, then he has eternal life, There is only one form of eternal life, & that is having the Holy Ghost, Therefore these wicked people will one day be completely annilated, Yes some may suffer a thousand yrs, some a million yrs. or even a billion yrs. But when all said & done they will be destroyed & cease to exist, Rev.20:6 This is the 2nd death.

It would be sick, if it were true. But, it isn't. The hellfire doctrine was adopted from the pagan beliefs of the Greeks etc. as a fear tactic. It has no basis in scripture. The Bible is clear on the punishment we receive for being sinners. Death. Period. The same sentence handed down to Adam and Eve when THEY sinned. "Ashes to Ashes" etc.

The true condition of the dead is as stated by King Solomon at Ecclesiastes 9:5,6,10. Take a moment to read it.

If you would take the time to read what the Bible actually says rather than go strictly by what you hear others say is in there, you would know that those who die without a chance to hear the Word and believe in Christ wil be judged differently than the the rest of us whio had. Secondly, anyone who freely chooses to reject God cannot expect rescue from eternal punsihment. Each of us has one chance to decide to accept or reject God. If we choose to reject we suffer the consequence of that decision. Its not sick, its very logical..

Put it like this: a serial killer might torture 30 victims for 30 years but the Christian/Islamic God does it forever to billions of people.

I do praise some parts of Christianity sometimes (e.g. the idea of not being overly attached to wealth) but this part of Christianity is utterly ridiculous. The previous Pope seemed to realise this and said that "oh actually hell is just separation from God, it is not a place at all." It seems to me that separation from such a psychotic being would be a better option.

I think you've posed this question in the wrong place. All of these different answers are only going to confuse you further and you are bound to believe what suits you best. A question like this should be directed to the experts in this matter. Keep in mind while getting your answers is that as stated in the bible, "the lord works in mysterious ways" and "no man can understand the mystery of God"

Who am I to question God? Am I God, or is He? Did I create this world with the words from my mouth, did my hands mold this earth? Did I breathe the breath of life into the first man? No. My eyes have not seen the world since the beginning of time, I have not the full complete knowledge of the true evil of this world, only a portion.
I am human, I do not like the thought of hell. In my human mind, I may think that it is unfair. God knows my intimate thoughts.
God said in His Word " Just as the heavens are higher than the earth so are my thoughts higher than your thoughts and my ways higher than your ways."
I am incapable of understanding God's mind, but He truly understands mine.

it depends on how you look at it and what kind of position they were in.
if the person never had a chance to hear about Jesus or died too young, then they shouldn't be burned eternally.
if the person's distant ancestor messed up in life, then they shouldn't be punished. it's a completely different person.
BUT, if they messed up by themselves, if it's that bad, then they deserve it.

There is absolutely nothing to fear about how Hell looks like or whether the fires exist or how hot they are. I believe Hell is all made up to look horrible and frightening by certain people who wanted to recruit more Christians. Logically, fires cannot exist in a spiritual or one-dimensional world but only in a 3-dimensional world on Earth or in the stars.
