exterminator my only chance? and why fleas on cat didnt die if shes been treated?

OK. You're on the right tracks, but there are few things to note. Flea treatment is complex!

1) Did you bath before or after applying the Advantage? You must wait 48 hours after a bath before applying any spot-on, and you cannot bath for at least 48 hours after application, or the stuff cannot work.
2) Don't use flea baths at all - they're very useless, and they mean you have to wait before you can apply the real stuff!
3) Which house spray did you use? They're not all great. If it was from a pet store I can fairly guarantee it won't have worked. You need a house spray from a vets.
4) Which flea tablet? Again, one from a pet store won't work. Capstar will kill all fleas within a few hours, but it won't keep them away. Program doesn't kill fleas, it sterilises them.
5) You could try switching to any of the other veterinary spot-ons - Frontline, Revolution or Advocate. They're all good.
6) Did you get the Advantage right on the skin of the cat, by parting her fur when you applied? It won't work if it goes all on the fur.

You're not seeing flea eggs where she lays, flea eggs are microscopic. You're seeing flea dirts (poos!). Little black specks, many comma or spiral shaped, right? They'll go eventually, once all the fleas are gone. Best to comb them out rather than bath them off, but the cat will get rid of them herself in time.

Advantage is a very good product, but should only be used once a month. The soonest I would reapply is 3 weeks.
The spray you used for the house should have an IGR (insect growth regulator) in it. EVERYTHING must be sprayed (bedding, behind the drapes, under the couch, all nooks and crannies and cracks, too). EVERYWHERE. Only a light spray should be used, not a saturating spray.
When the next application of advantage is due, try frontline plus instead. It kills all stages of the fleas life cycle (the flea, the larvae and the egg).
For the best protection and to never be infested again, keep applying the advantage or the frontline plus every 4 weeks.
Since your kitten had such an infestation, chances are very, very good that she now has tapeworms. This is 99% of the time not noticed in fecal exams. This is generally found by the owner finding what looks like little rice like segments on the cats behind or stuck to fecal matter. You may want to ask your vet for tapeworm treatment to get rid of them. The segments may take a while to show up and they are not always shed, so not always seen.
Good luck!

Fleas are HORRIBLE!!! I hate them. I have had to deal with this problem so many times. I found some links on an all natural website. I will send you the links I have used these remedies myself and they totally work. The best part is they are safe for our furry friends. Good luck with the pests.

A safe, cheap and effective method of getting rid of fleas is to use a mixture of boric acid and salt. The powder should be sprayed on carpets, bedding and areas frequented by pets.

This happened with my cat when we first got her. We used Frontline after a few months and it worked right away! I tried to bleach and wash everything. Worked great! Good luck.
