Hi, I am almost 60 yrs. old, and have gone through periods of severe depression in my life, when if I had not gotten help, I would have ended my life. I am VERY glad, that I got help and that, as the result, I am still here, and happy, married to a very nice guy, my life is not perfect, but pretty good.
Do NOT wait, to call up your nearest hospital, and tell them that you are feeling like ending your life, and desperately need help!!!!! Call the police, or if you know a doctor, call SOMEONE!!!!! Do not wait. There are many very good antidepressant medications available now. I am on a generic form of Wellbutrin, called Bupropion, that seems to work well for me. Depresssion is a physical condition, that often runs in families, and it often requires medication to "fix" it. But, you would be amazed at how GOOD you can be feeling, even a short period of time from now, with the right treatment. The important thing is to call up anyone you can think of to get help. There are suicide hot lines as well. Maybe call up the telephone directory and tell them, that you need to speak to a suicide hot line, and they will connect you. Good Luck!!! Hard as it is to believe that things can be good in your life, now, believe me, they can, and will be.

I have the same problem...
Journals help a little.
Music does to.
Just remember that all your going through in your life right now is going to end. It cant last forever. Its not permanint...but suicide is.
It could last days, months, possibly years, but it wont last forever.
I remind myself that everyday I come from a broken home.and no family support what so ever, my school tells my mom I'm depressed and she rolls her eyes and continues ignoring me.. I've been fighting on and off depression for 2 years now. Attempted suicide once. and have abused drugs, achohol and sex.... But when I get through this I'm going to dedicate my life to helping others get through it as well...because I understand what its like.

See suicidal thoughts, and depression treatments, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris in sections 5, and 2, after booking a taxi, or calling an ambulance, or public transport, to take you to the nearest ER, or mental health facility, or call your local emergency number. 911 (USA), 000 (Australia), or 999 (Great Britain); see the phone book elsewhere. Don't drive, yourself: you may well be a danger to others on the roads, in your current mental state.

If you are considering harming yourself, it is often wise to go to Accident and Emergency and tell them how you are feeling. You will be in a safe enviroment and will be able to talk to someone about how you feel.
If this is more of a chronic feeling, then you should see your Doctor and be totally honest about how you are feeling and how it is affecting your life.

If you are a student at school. Go to the nurse or counseling department and tell them this is an emergency.
If you are at work and cannot stand it any longer, say you are sick and then go to the ER. Please take care of yourself.
