I would probably skip both as to not ruffle any feathers.... or I would try to make an appearance at both, if I couldnt make it to both, I would skip it altogether, making an excuse that family is coming in from out of town and you have to be at a family dinner.....

There are lots of parties during the holidays and many will coincide. You just can't do them all. It would be wise for you to choose your team as these are the people you have to work side by side with. Whenever you have a scheduling conflict there is someone or group that you will have to turn down by saying thank you, but I already have plans for that evening.

Well, I would say with your Team...but apologize to the other group and make them something--and drop it off before they begin...perhaps then, you can have a drink before or after with them and they won't feel slighted.
