Not all Christians or Christian groups make it a habit to change their doctrine. You may be referring to catholicism or some sects. Most Christian denominations have a solid foundation as far as doctine is concerned and do not and would not change it to suit their needs.
Unfortunately, these days, with all the religious groups sprouting here and there, blame is easily attributed to the Christians in general and not to the specific church or group.
Unfortunately, too many people seem to think Christianity is delusional then that is their opinion and I respect that. However, you would not hear me bash another person for his/her faults.
God has taught us to love, respect, honor, and to give to those who are weak in spirit and thought that they may see the truth.
I have been a Christian for many years...although I do not belong to any particular church or group, I do read the Bible (including the Quoran) to receive God's full insight. Let me be honest by saying that I have not attended and refuse to attend church service on Sundays primarily because I see no reason why I should because I feel that God, in His omnipotence shall hear me where ever I am, whenever I call. I have found a special place (I call it my rock) where I commune with God. This has helped me with the work that I do and has helped make me a better person. And I don't need religion for that. God is more than enough.
I have always contended that religion is the cause of problems in this world. Religion and the doctrines they posses have caused much pain, sorrow and death upon us mortals (remember the Spanish inquisition? when they put to death those suspected of witchcraft or even heresy?) Catholicism is one religion I would gladly stay away from (and I am hoping you were referring to them). I still believe that without religion (any and all) there would be no wars, no ethnic cleansing,
I believe that God (regardless of what religion you have) resides in the hearts of each one of us and that the only time we would hear Him is if we really and truly believe He is there.
God bless you.

The biblically uneducated believe that they see a contradiction and will expound upon that misconception / misunderstanding of Biblical information that has been taken out of context and or meaning....
In an effort to share/explain it in a more easily understandable wording it will then been misunderstood as a change in doctrine....
No matter which way the truth is presented it will be parried and pushed aside as delusional and unacceptable to those who do not want to believe....

Having pretty in depth teaching from the Bible and knowing what I do about evolution, I would say it is a pretty close tie.
Much in the Bible, as we have it today, has been mistranslated or changed or removed or added to for the political doctrines of the day. Churches to make their ideals work write their own rules generally based on something taken out of context and becomes "church dogma." The same is true with evolutionist, they add years to try and make their ideas work and be acceptable.

The bible itself is a contradiction. It was put together not by god but by man. If god is so perfect then why is he such an @$$hole in the old testament, and then he changes his tune in the new testament. People should really take fantasy for what it is....fantasy. Hell even jesus christ was misnamed, it's actually Yashua Immanuel according to the records of the day. You see, fanatics can change anything they like, because they just put it under divine inspiration. Just look at the crusades, or the countless blessing of soldiers before war, like if GOD really approves of taking life so blantantly and without thought.....some god huh.

You may call it "twisting the argument" but maybe it is your "blatant contradiction" that is off, and they are simply pointing out your error.

if christians believe in god fair enough but god didn't right the bible so why do they follow it,it condraticts too much, how do they know that god asked these people either, times are too different from when the bible was written. if god was good he wouldn't send people mixed messages to write in the bible for people to follow.
