After dinner, I covered the dish that was extremely hot and forgot to put it in the fridge before bed. I got up at 5am and realized I had left it out. It was about 8:30 when I covered it. I figure it took a good 2 hours just to cool down so it might be ok, but really would like some input.

Probably best not to eat it at all. If food is in the temperature "danger zone" (between 40 degrees and 140 degrees Fahrenheit) for more than 4 hours its a safe bet that it is loaded with bacteria. It is possible to cook away some of that bacteria, but it's probably best not to tempt fate.

no i wouldnt eat it, there is too much bacteria growth on it by now.... I would rather go to the food store and rebuy and remake everything rather than get sick from leftovers.... definitely not worth it....

Toss it. It would be very dangerous to eat it and not worth getting sick over.

Leave it out a couple more days, then it should be out long enough. Eat well.
