You need to see your doctor. There are nasty colds going around. You could permanently damage your hearing.

When you have a cold, mucous gathers in your sinuses, and chest, and is a breeding ground for infection.

The feeling of having your ears 'plugged up' is due to sinus pressure behind your ear drums, and isn't immediately a problem, but can be. If it doesn't hurt, it's just due to pressure and the most you can due is stand in steam and take Sudafed to help relieve the swelling and pressure.

Normally, when your cold clears up, the mucous does as well, clearing out some of the bacteria. However, sometimes this bacteria doesn't clear away fully, or is present long enough to create what's called a 'secondary infection.'
If the bacteria overgrows the clogged sinuses behind your eardrums, you can end up with an ear infection, while not only is painful, but needs to be treated by a doctor, as it can cause permanent damage to your ear drums, and therefore, your hearing.

Hope you get better soon. I've been sick for a little while as well, and it's driving me insane.
