Gossiping Neighbors won't mind their own business,cause trouble,and tell lies, how do I deal with this?

Ever since I moved here in July, the upstairs neighbors have done nothing but keep them selves busy with my personal life. They are the cousin to my close friend, who is a gay male. i am a married female. They have spread rumors of us having sex, me having sex with men other than my husband, who often works out of town. He is home now, and they dont like him either. He has a loud voice, the kind that sounds like he is yelling , but he is not. The last bit of gossip came from their children, who talk with our kids. They are not allowed to play with them,because they tell my kids all the gossip the parents conjure up. Well,now they have talked about calling authorities because they think my husband is abussive. We have never laid a hand on our kids ever! Because of his loud voice, they think he is always yelling at them. The woman sits outside my door in the hall, hears bits and pieces of talk, makes up a juicy story out of it,of which always comes back to me. How do I deal with this?

call the department of social services and tell them you are scared for the lives of their children.
if the neighbors are spreading rumors about you it (usually) means the same things are going on in their home.

Get on line and find a web site that has free legal documents that you can print. There are many sites.
Print off something relative to Slander, Harassment, Character Assassination or similar. You may have to do some searching, but you'll find it.
Send it to your neighbor by certified mail. More or less it is a threat to them that if they don't stop harassing you and your kids, you will file legal action. Don't write your own as it will look generic and made up.
Other than a simple threat, there isn't much that can be done since they aren't actually DOING anything. Unless you are prepared to hire an attorney and go after them for Slander or Character Assassination, you are just going to have to deal with them.

OK so you know she has nose problems so why keep leaving your mail etc out for her ?? The reason she calls her friends w/info on you is she is lonely & nos no-one else to talk with!! You certainly have a right to your privacy but why not leave out some bogus stuff for her to go & run with ?? Send some goofy mail to yourself for her to nose threw like a note from a secret admirer or what a blast you all had @ that club that nite & how a certain someone keeps calling your cell or something to that effect!! I'm glad to say i don't have your problem but thats what i came up with as a diversion for your aunt !!! Also get her to collect campbells soup labels & the box tops worth money for the schools !!!

Seriously, this is so egregious you really need to move. There is no way these jerks will want their gossip spoiled with truth...obviously they have nothing to do so they made you their project for malice. In the meantime, I would talk to the landlord or owner re: the woman sitting outside your door; that is disgraceful.

This is way too much for any person to handle! You have to complain to the housing authorities else you could talk to this gay friend of yours and ask him to help you out. Or else the only way left is to change your house...Im sorry.. it is a truly miserable situation to be in...

Or else if you wanan fight evil with evil, you could teach them a lesson and do the exact same thing they r doing to you. but that is not a solution cz' dt is just a childish way of thinking and is very immature.

So the best option would be to shift... if possible.. cz' living there is going to make life hell!

Have you husband read from the Bible, loudly, every afternoon and give them a sermon worth hearing! Sing a hymn. Start passing out Bible tracts. You haven't seen people run until you talk about Jesus.

Perhaps you might want to consider moving?
Your confronting your neighbors is not going to stop the gossip etc.. I think moving well away from them would be your better option.

good god...... i would let her hear me saying that i am sleeping with one of the neighbors.... and keep these tidbits going for a while, never revealing who it is... and then drop the bomb that it is her husband/ boyfriend whatever... then when she confronts you, laugh, say you made the whole thing up , and thats what they get for eavesdropping and spreading rumors!!!
