Ha its not about being effective it's about Being Biblical... just so you know.. I do Evangelsim. by the way..
First of all The bible says the Law is Perfect for Converting the Soul and Paul said how can a person know what sin is without the Law so the most Biblical and Effective way in the eyes of God is to use the law to show them there need for a Saviour.
If you don't use the law Jesus dying on a Cross makes no sense. its like a Doctor trying to give a person the cure for cancer but the person DOESN'T KNOW THEY HAVE CANCER.
And to say to the person your going to die makes them think your crazy.
and So does calling a person a Sinner and saying there going to hell..
they will think your crazy..
But if you show them why there a sinner and why there going to hell it make sense and by Gods spirit they will understand.
Remember You can not Convert people only God can Do that.your job is to preach the gospel that Jesus died for man kinds sin and took our punishment and that we are all sinnners we all have lied, stolen, lusted, hated, etc.
and deserve to go to hell but God came down to this world and took our punishment on the Cross
( the bible says all liars, theives , fornificators, murderers, adulterers wil have there part in the lake of fire.)
and the bible says lust is adultry and hate is murder...
.yep yep
p/s Relationship Evangelism is dangerous you can't make friends with people and hope for the chance to tell them about Jesus in a month or so becaue that person can die before then...
and yes You also need to lead by example
not just words but also action
and not just action but words
Edit: yes.... Prayer for sure is Key! first pray that God opens there eyes, Pray that the holy spirit convicts them, Pray for DIVINE APOINTMENTS(those are my favorites), Pray against Satan bind him in the name of Jesus, pray they accept Christ , etc.
Edit: I disagree with Becky its not just by being a example its both action and preaching but with love of course.. and don't think your better then them be transparent tell them about how you deserve hell to but Jesus saved you.

By working on your own moral fiber, so that your actions first will be your witness. Then when people begin to notice success in and peace in your life you can answer their curiosities with the basis of peace and success in your life. Christ always giving honor to God for allowing your example to be a beacon. You then relate as a fellow student of Christ, never as a superior and judgmental always understanding and patient. There is nothing you can say or do to adequately convince anyone unwilling to give what you say credence. The convincing is done with the successful review of the facts as it pertains to each individual and can only truly be internal. I hope this helps.

The unique way to witness effectively is being by yourself. No need of giving sermons and telling them about God. Just be a good example to the people around you. Show them the character of a through Christian it is more than a hundred sermons. Be an open Bible to everybody and let them see Jesus in you. "Action speaks louder than words."

OK, I'll give you some hints. But first take my advice. Don't say "Christians only" if you want to avoid unbelievers.
Don't witness unless you feel that the Holy Spirit is pushing you to do it.
When Jesus was leaving to be with the Father, he told his disciple's to wait in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit came. he said that the Holy Spirit would give them power to be witnesses for him.
If you are serious about this. If you are willing to be hurt and wounded in you body and your mind (or feelings) or even die, if you will give up your life if he calls you to another city or country, then I think you should pray for this with all your heart, mind, soul and strength. Ask God to fill you with his Holy Spirit as he did the disciples, so that you can be a wittiness for him with power.
If you just want to talk to people about Jesus because someone told you it is good to do that, then I say don't. Or if you do, do it casually with people in normal conversation and only if you are asked.
That's my opinion.
I think it's a good one.

Pray and ask the Lord to lead you to those who will be open to His Spirit. The Bible says one "planted," another "watered," but "God gave the increase." He may use you to plant the seed of His Word or be the initial witness. He may use you as a "follow-up" to water what He has used someone else to plant. Either way, ask Him to help you be obedient to His calling. The worst way to witness is to force God's Word on someone that does not want to hear it, or is not ready for it. Remember one thing regardless: You may be the only Jesus they'll "see," or the only Bible they'll "read." So when God calls you ... be ready to proceed humbly, mercifully and filled with God's love. If they reject you remember they rejected Jesus first. If they refuse you, the Bible says to shake the dust off your feet and keep moving. Even if they reject your witness, they cannot stop you from going into your "secret" closet to pray for them. God bless you.

Some good suggestions here. Also, why not go to a Christian book store and look for the books on sharing the faith. One of the books I own of that subject is "People Sharing Jesus." It's not bad--and there are others.

In your witnessing, you must speak with love and compassion to those who do not believe. So many so called "Christians" go out and do things completely wrong. When they encounter an unbeliever, they attack them, telling them how wrong their ways are and force them into a decision through fear, condemning them to hell and obliterating the bonds they have made, which are a key part in bringing people to the Father.

your witness is you living your life openly in front of others so to cause them to ask "What is it about him/her that makes them so different? or to say to themselves I want what that person has! and so they come to you then you are open to share Christ more effectively because you have caused interest and also formed a relationship. Let there be enough evidence that you are indeed a Christian by your LOVE is how they will know. God will place in your path people who need to hear your testimony you can be sure of that, share it when he tells you to. Peace

Anything other than shoving it down a persons throat or nagging them about it.
I strongly believe that witnessing is only effective if the other person is receptive. Meaning I don't really support going out and accosting strangers.
If people look at your life and they like what they see, they will ask you about it. God doesn't need a sales pitch.
Attraction not promotion.

Just show yourself open, friendly and accepting of others. This will open doors for you as people will see a difference in you that they may not see in most other people and want to know just what is so different about you. God Bless!
