You do not specify whether it was two males or two women, or a couple. Women or a couple could ONLY be Jehovah's Witnesses. Two young men could have been Mormons. Two older men would be Witnesses.
Regardless of this, you could have simply asked the witnesses not to call again, and your address would have been noted for other congregation members not to call. And witnesses have a legal right to knock on your door, so calling police would have been useless.
They will not lay charges for your swearing, however much it might be deserved.
No one can force you to do anything and you have the free will to either accept or reject what they preach.
But consider this...whether you listen or not, the simple fact that they have been to your door means that , as far as God is concerned...YOU HAVE BEEN TOLD.
The consequences can be read in Revelation 19; 17 and 21.

Choosing to believe the best of both you and your 2 guests, you may have had a misunderstanding.

As a Christian, I know I can't force what I believe on you or anyone else. I am commanded however, to share the love of Jesus with everyone, thus making disciples of all who will listen.

Now if what they did was rude than they may have been overzealous and may have misinterpreted their responsibility before God.

However, if they were really Christians, (as opposed to some who try to claim that name and are not) than what they really are interested in is sharing a gift with you. The gift is free with no strings attached. Ask me more about it if you want to.

You are correct however that they had no right to press the issue once you said you were not interested. For that I apologize.

I hope you can find it in your heart to believe that a real Christian will respect what you believe (while they may disagree strongly and tell you so) and value you as a person for just who you are.

im christian and that is the last thing i would want to do. If for some reason the subject of religion comes up with family or friends who arent believers. I just ask them questions about what they think and what i think. Than we exchange opinions.
Forcing your beliefs on people will drive the person farther away from God. Ignore those people who do that to you. If you really want to find God, just pray and ask him to reveal the truth to you. Meanwhile live a good life.

They do that because they are told that doing christian work is part of their salvation. The bible also teaches them that they must go out into the hedges and compel people. Sad, isn't it? Truth is, this country is supposed to have freedom of religion, which should also mean we have freedom from religion if we chose. The thing about churches is that there are a lot of people there who actually do not want to be there but are due to eternal fear. Sadder than before? I like being a Heathen, no worries, let them have that emotional flagalation, I got my world.

People try to force their beliefs on others all the time... Not just christians, all people who can not accept another right to think for themselves will. By the way, advertisement is no different than anyone trying to sell you on any idea.

It shows how insecure they are - they need numbers to tell them they are right.
Religion actually does this all the time - seeks converts.

Imagine a religion that doesn't try to get converts - it will eventually die out - and wouldn't that be great?

I am just wondering if two Muslims came to your door preaching about Islam, or wondering if you have any questions about it. Would your response be different than Christians knocking on your door??

I have met many Mormons who invited me to their church and talked to me about their religion. I listened and said no thanks. If they start forcing or ignoring my wishes, I keep quite, which is a respectful way of saying "WHATEVER".

Don't generalize. Some may do that, but not all. But some do it in a respectful way and don't have to have the cops called on them. They do what they feel the Bible tells them to. To go out and tell the world of God and His goodness. And if some one tells them they are not interested, then they let it alone. I am sorry that there are some who do it in a disrespectful way. But please don't judge all, on the actions of a few.

well, they feel they are right, and need to spread the word. My dad is atheist, and every Saturday, two Jehovah's witnesses came to his door preaching. My dad still doesn't believe in it, but he is now friends with them, and calls them round for lunch quite often. Just make friends with them. They are just people like you and me.
