Not possible, since installers nowadays add entries in Windows registry -- Administrative powers are needed to do that. However, if your still using the old WinMe/98/95 with an old version of Yahoo Messenger - that's possible. Since with those mentioned version of Windows, all users are Admins.

You don't just simple as that. You can use the web based chat from your email, the web based yahoo messenger( http://webmessenger.yahoo.com/ ), or meebo( http://www.meebo.com ). The last two work and look better than the chat in yahoo mail. Meebo also works for aim, icq, msn, and some other chat protocols too but the only problem is no chatrooms.

you can't install any software without administrative privilege unless your administrator change the user authorities to include installing software .

if you have no administrative privileges, try webmessengers, like yahoo! webmessenger, or meebo. meebo is so good that im using it for a month.
